China racer is doing another run of rearsets, so if you want a set, heres your chance we need ten people

If these will fit the 88 fzr1000 I am in

China Racer 1 over on the archives is making them. If i remember the price was around 200 plus shipping, but don't quote me on this

I really have mixed feelings about them... Somedays I like em, somedays i don't..guess it depends which day i get the paycheck on

I personally hate the heel guard design. It's huge and unattractive. I understand why he did it the way he did, but no thanks.

Really you hate the heal guard? Hmm, Ok, well, I needed to make it a bit big due to the fact its two seperate pieces on the stock bike.

I also needed to acomidate the brake master cylinder and it needed to move with the set as it gets adjusted.

I had to go with function over form on these. Not your standard looking GSXR type I know, but they work and I made them for racing and not for show so much though I tried to make them look fairly presentable.


In this picture you can see the heel guard is in line with the peg and the foot / heel area in particular is protected from hitting the moving chain when your on the balls of the feet on the peg racing like ya should be. Again function over form.

I am game for a new design on the heal guards if someone out there is willing to do a bit of auto cad work on them.

Note: I never take offence when someone has an opinion that does not jive with mine. i like the feed back and try to listen to the rider comments as much as I can.

if that had pivoting foot pegs and incorperated a newer rear master cylinder i might bite...its alot of money to put on an old bike with a least 10 year old rear master cylinder, if not older. when doing things like this in the off road atv world we could always make new things for old atv's and 3wheeler but use new mastercylinders so we wouldnt have to worry about age in the future.

your ideas work i just would rather new (must be used with 04+ or somthing rear master cylinder).

Hi CR,
As you say function over form is always difficult to get round.

Perhaps you could just make a pilot hole where your "fixed" peg goes before final finishing with your foot peg.

That way the folding foot peg clique can buy them "unfinished" and add their own diameter hole using the pilot hole to mount their choice of foot pegs. I have done this many times for my own bikes where I could not always obtain the original choice of foot pegs on my own made rear sets.

Glad there was no offense taken cause I didn't mean any. I think they are designed well and the quality is there. Like I said, I know why you did it, just wish they didn't have to be so big. I know a ton of design work goes into them so changing them is a bit hard, but maybe a set with a slightly different design for those that aren't going to be racing their bikes and just want some better looking rearsets? Not sure if it would be cost effective to you with how much design time goes in, but just a thought.

From a manufacturing point of view I have a choice of either making it for a specific new master cyclinder Or making them for stock.

If I can get everyone who wants one to agree on a specific master cyclinder they wish to use then I will be happy to make it fit up.

But I have been on a jury before... hard to get more than 6 people to agree on much of anything ha ha.

I did do a one off for Spyders I beleive to fit up his R-6 master cyclinder.

Point well taken and opinions always honored and read with interest and respect.

Well my opinion whether it matters or not as I won't be buying a set of these (financial and highmount pipe clearance reasons), I believe these should be made to accomadate newer master cylinders. I think if you're spending the money on rear sets, you should already have improved your braking as we know isn't the greatest on our less-than-new fzr.

Not to add to the confusion, just to ask about a point that has been brought up. The REAR master cylinder...........uh....... is the REAR master cylinder all that critical ? I thought we worried more about what our front brakes are capable of. Just curious. I never replaced either MC, front or back. I'm pretty happy with the new SS brake lines and EBC HH+ pads. I guess if you're racing it makes sense to upgrade all of it. Oh well, just was wondering how critical it is.

Unfortunately I can't afford the rearsets right now, way too much other stuff on my plate. But I like the design.
