Well, here it is:

been looking for a starter sportbike for her.....had looked at a few 250 ninjas..most were ratty. Looked at a Buell blast...which was ratty AND had reliability issues AND was asking waaay too much.

Saw this one on Craigslist.

We were both going "wow!" as we drove up to the house. I looked it over, took it for a 5 mile test ride..absolutely NOTHING as a flaw ('cept the brand!! ;-0 ). I had NO place to start bargaining..not ONE lever to bring the price down-the oil was even clean!!

So, I tried anyway. He was asking $1800. I countered 1600 and he said "yea".

He rides, his 20 yr old son rides, and his wife.

We'll be riding together soon.

very clean, and it's almost a Yamaha blue so you knew you were on to something.

That is in seriously nice shape. Can't be that many miles on it.

Hope your girl doesn't scratch it... or worse.

Hey you should let me know how it rides. I got a 2001 ninja for my g/f and it feels like a dog, even at wot. It's a stock setup. I've been thinking something might be a little off, but i have nothing to compare it to, and it's also a 250 so i'm not sure why i'm expecting anything fast. Anyway, let me know.

I WISH I could convince my GF to ride with me. She hates the damn things (though thankfully she supports my obsession/other love).

One of my buddies has the opposite situation where his GF wants to ride with him, badly. But she's been in a three avoidable wrecks that we're both convinced she caused, one totaling her car in a 35mph zone. So there's the safety issue with her on the bike. I dread being him when he has to bring that up.

Regardless that is a nice looking bike man, and a great deal for what you got it sounds like! Nothing like buying a bike from someone who's anal about maintainence.

Take some advice from an Old Man , never marry a woman who hates bikes . Girlfriends are 2 a penny wives cost a .
lot more to get rid off (I have 2X's )

GF go along with just about anything (except other women), wives try to change just about every point of your character let alone hobbies that take a dig into their action on a gold card!.

My last wife still tries to change the way I am and that is after 30 years of being with me & I still keep a bike in the lounge as a matter of principle :-}

I rode it about five miles on the test ride.

Zero, It is NOT super quick...it's a 250...FOUR STROKE at that!! ;-) But, it has great throttle response... I whipped it up to 90 on a two laner around the edge of the town we went to see it in. It had revs left and felt like it would pull at least some of them.

Rage, I will be riding it home later this week. Then, pulling the plastics off while she gets accustomed to it...we'll see how long it takes for her to get decently comfy on it.'

She loves riding on the back of mine (tho I HATE passengers). I had a Harley Heritage Softail at home to service last week and gave her a spin on the back of that...she DIDN'T like it.

She has been on a few dirtbikes, was in the MSF course last year when her mother went into hospital on Sunday (and didn't come out)..so, she dropped out at noon on Sunday. The instructors tell me she was doing great.

It's really doingy....front and back (front seriously soft). I have already researched a shock swap, and springs/emulators for the front end. Ima put her on it and do the sag numbers-get it set up RIGHT for her.

At the very least, I can leave on Saturday mornings and NOT feel guilty....she can go ride her OWN bike-even if we don't ride together !! ;-0
