Hey what is the weight of an fzr 400 stock?

I just weighed mine and came up with 174 KG or about 382 lbs. I think that is a bit high. I did not do it in a good mannor just a scale under the front wheel and then I moved it to the back wheel. This is with a full tank of fuel and oil in the case (Yzf600R engine) water in the radiator which is a larger kawi 636 radiator.

I was hpping it was more like near 300 lbs. Not sure if there is some inherent shared weight doing it in this manner.

Not sure how accurate this is but its all I got right now.

Any one got any thoughts?

Also I got a buddy who wants to paint his calipers. but its on a race bike. I never paint my calipers and he was asking if it was safe to do so on a race bike or not. Any clue out there? I have no idea

I don't think that is a very accurate way of measuring the weight. But the weight isn't far off.

Xian's FZR with 683 enginer weighed 335lbs wet with a 1/3 tank of fuel or something like that.

BUT... he had titanium and aluminum hardware. GSXR750 radial front end. FZR1000 swing arm with OW01 rear rim (not sure if this is a light rear rim or not). Galfer wave rotors. Polished frame (this probably saves like a pound ).. Carbon can...

I dunno what else he did to save weight but I think that was it.

As for how you weighed your bike some of the fluid may slosh backwards if it's not level, thus alleviating some weight off whatever wheel is slightly higher. But 380 wet isn't terrible.

Ok but I think I need to get it weighed proper and see. At least I am in the ball park, I guess.

Stil I got to figure with carbon fber parts and al liek I have its got to be a bit closer to 300 than that. My goal is 325.

I got a ultra lightweight Hindle header and the can will be carbon as well so that will take some weight off as I weighed it with a heavy can on it.

Wonder if wheelie up n the scale if that would work ha ha.

I think if u level the rear wheel with the scale level you will get an accurate meassure.

325 wet? Better get your wallet out. You are gunna need a custom aluminum subframe if you don't already have one. Titanium axels, engine bolts and otherwise all hardware, mag wheels.

I expected your bike to weigh much less since you have the aluminum fuel cell and all that carbon as well.

I'll check my frame sticker out tonight when I get home.. I believe it's 340lbs.. I'm not 100% sure, but I think that's around the number that it says....

dry weight on a stock 400 is around 380lbs. yours should be quit a bit lighter than that, unless the yzf engine is that much heavier.

Hmm ok well as I said Iwil find a propr place to weigh it i with both wheels onteh ground.

My race partner said he went to a Fed Ex type shipping company here and slipped the shipping department 10 bucks to roll it up on their scale so I might just do th same.

what about using two scales? one under each wheel. add them together.could this work?
