Got this in my e-mail, year end special. Don't know how much of a deal it is but I thought someone might be interrested.
I bought my stand from them, pretty reasonable and shipping was pretty fast for ordering on Christmas eve and that whole week being crap for UPS.

I'm sure that those work for small jobs, but the pro guys will tell you that they're crap. However; if you're like me, you cannot see paying $500 for a unit that works great but will never pay for itself.

Anyone use one of the cheap units and get decent results from it?

That's kinda what I thought too. I think for larger jobs I would just use what you (I think it was you) used. Plastex? Wasn't that it. I think it would be cheaper that way too.

Yeah, I did use Plastex. I would imagine that either method would work. Plastex is fairly brittle, so welding with ABS rod might be better in most instances.

Thats the case with EVERYTHING at HF

I had one and I threw it out. It's absolute garbage. Save your money and either pay someone to weld it or put it towards some plastex

The stand is the only thing I have bought from them. And mainly it is because I asked for a stand for Christmas and my gf just gave me 50 dollars to buy motorcycle parts, and it was within my budget from there. Guess I'll see if it holds up. But the other e-mails they have sent me on offers didn't look like very good deals.

I think I want to try this plastex some time. I'm buying some fairings cause I don't think plastex would fix the condition of mine. But I would like to try it on my cowl or if I have to make a piece for the cowl to fairings.

Off topic: Chris - we have a couple Harbor Freight stores here in St. Louis. If you're ever up this way, swing into one. They do have some decent stuff, but chances are it won't be the power tool you need.

STORES IN STL. Well isn't that the crap that my stuff had to be shipped from Burbank and East LA. Oh well. I'll have to do that sometime. It'll be the same weekend I come up for us to ride together.

How are you liking the stand? I saw that stand and an adapter to make it work as a front stand and I was considering picking it up.

I got both, and I have only used the rear so far. Works great. I didn't want to buy another bottom part to raise the forks so I bought some tubing and I'm just going to make the front fork lift. It's a great buy though, you won't be disappointed.
