Suzuki Intruder $300 repair project WITH NEW PICS *UPDATED*

Started last night draining everything and stripping it down to get to the engine. I have to say it wasnt that bad but damn there are a lot of connections and brackets and wires hooked up. Them damn carbs are tucked away and hidden and while the engine is out Im going to clean them up and put new o-rings on them.

Can someone give me some help as to what I can use to clean all the chrome with. I know I dont want to do it by hand so I will need a drill and some type of buffing wheel and do I use some kind of shine wax or what?

Here are some pics of the garage, bike, and engine. That engine is heavy as hell and I will need some help squeezing it back into the frame if someone would like to offer a hand. LOL.

Tomorrow I will pull the head and check the cylinder and pistons for damage. I hope to god the problem is in the cylinder and not in the lower end because I want to get it fixed ASAP. My garage is in need of a cleaning and parts all over the damn place doesnt help things.

That was a lot of work. Hard part is over I hope. Made room tomorrow at lunch time to remove the cylinder head and pray that the problem is in there.

Can you all say a prayer for the V-Twin tonight that everything will be fine and will be an easy fix for me please.

:tks:

I would be glad to help. Bring it, and we can throw it on the lift and start the tear down. So far it has been fun and I know the fun wont start until its time to get it back in the frame. Im really excited what tomorrow will bring. :tks:

Started on the engine today and all I had time for removing the bolts from the top. LOL Should be able to get the head off tomorrow and see the problem.

Is there anything else I should look at on a V-twin while its apart?

Valves? Clutch? Bearings in the drive shaft?

Will do! Im taking it to work for me to have this weekend there at the shop. Its getting taken apart on saturday. A friend of mine is a really good MC mechanic and has been around MC's a long time. He told me to bring it in and he will help me with it. Im so pumped about the extra help!

Its down right now. LOL2 Let me have my son take a pic of us on it real quick.

I know what you were trying to type. "DONE" Just thought Id be a smart ass.

We plan on riding every weekend when I get it finished(ill take pics). Its funny...I have had 3 offers on it since the motor has been out. The highest offer right now is $2200. My wife would kill me if I sold it or she would get to spend all the money.

NICE!! I didn't even see that until now :duh:. It was a rough day at work today and I had a few of those "eye kant tipe" moments. 2200 huh? I've never been seriously offered any monies for either of my bikes :thumbsdown . The FZR looks like shit and most people that encounter the Z750 never know what it is...anywho...keep it up man. i'm pullin for ya. :shocker

I have the rear cylinder torn down and the piston and rings look great along with the valves. I will clean them all up and replace the rings along with some new gaskets and seals but the only thing we can figure is the cam tensioner is not working properly. The cam chain looks good and all. Im going to inspect everything real closely before I order parts. So far, so good. Nothing major wrong with it. Im going to get some pics of it and post for you all to see this crazy ass looking V-Twin engine. I can tell you, I dont like them.
