Can I get away w/o changing oil this winter?

So judging from the snow and massive amounts of salt on the ground I think it's safe to say that riding season is over for me. Hopefully we get one more warm day so I can winterize bike without freezing my arse off. Problem is, I just did the 8000 mile service on my bike less than a month and 1000 miles ago. It seems like an [expensive] waste of oil that has <1000 miles on it. Can I get away with not changing the oil before I pack it away, or am I asking for trouble?

You have 8000 miles on that bike already? Unless you've done some really hard riding, I wouldn't worry about it.

You're storing it indoors in the warm and dry, I wouldn't sweat it.

Yeah, 8000. I like to ride. :D

The couple times that I've gone out riding since servicing I haven't ridden it exactly nicely, but I wouldn't call it hard either. More than likely storage is going to be unheated too. I'm just happy that I got it nice and clean before the cold really hit.
