How Much Do You Think I Can Sell My Bike For?

Post by STN »

So, I might be looking to sell my precious FZR, but school needs to be fed it diet of cash and coin. Let me run you down on what I'll put on the add, and then you tell me what I can sell my bike for to give me an idea of how much I can sell it for.

For sale is a 1998 FZR600R, its a good running bike, looks pretty good too, and just got it tuned up at Thompsons Raceworks. She's fast and fun, and runs like a top.
It has some upgrades, namely; Vance & Hines full exhaust (sounds awesome), and a jet kit (goes fast).

She has gone down but the only damage was the fairings and peanut cover (which was fixed).

You have somethings stacked against you:

- Winter is upon the riding world and no one will pay top dollar for a bike to sit in the garage all winter.
- Although it has a V&H Full Exhaust, from where I sit, it looks beat up. Presentation is everything.
- You're missing the most expensive components of the FZR - the fairings. That blue scheme was the best looking scheme of the FZRs, too.

I would say $1100-1300 depending on the mileage of the bike.

the header is definitely a V&H, the can looks stock, but i would doubt it if you have the header, might be the ss2, and not the ss2r, the ss2r is an oval can, i had one. Jong, you may just have a slip on, the stock headers are a lot smaller than the V&H.
I did that.

That definitely looks like a full V&H SuperSport system. I had one on my '89 600 so I can have a look at a pic to verify. Pretty sure it is though.

Hey STN,

I realize beauty is in the eye of the beholder and all but if you plan on selling the bike as-is I would take out the "looks pretty good too" part. As Darrin more or less alluded to, if you're missing a bunch of the plastic, the selling price WILL go down. A little elbow grease on what you DO have will go a long way (clean up the exhaust, maybe polish the can, clean up the covers, etc.

Good luck with the sale!

It's a supersport exhaust system. I have one at the shop. I think V&H used to sell them for 290 or so for the system. The SS2R's went for about 480 I recall.

Clean title and all, probably about 1200. You might be able to squeeze 1500 out of an unsuspecting buyer or first time buyer but that's about tops.

Definitely a V&H Supersport Exhaust. I had one on my FZR - loved it! Inexpensive, paint chipped all the time, but it had the greatest sound!
