PLASTEX GIVEAWAY: The Best "How-To" Contest
Everone knows we tear our bikes apart quite a bit and do a lot of maintenance on them, so here's your chance to score a Plastex Clear Kit for creating a "How-To".
For the month of June, anyone who wants to be entered for the contest must create an original "How-To" for FZROnline.com. At the end of June, we will POST a link to each participants original "How-To" and the members will vote on who did the best presentation.
What we expect to see is a well-documented "How-To" with photos and step-by-step instructions. You may EDIT your posting as much as you want during the month of June until you feel it is just right.
It doesn't have to be a complete engine tear-down. It could be an oil change, air filter swap, handle bar end replacement, a brake fluid change or anything else. Keep it simple, clear, concise, but most of all - keep it related to the FZR.
What you will win is a Plastex Clear Kit - shipped free of charge to your home.
Any questions? No? Then what are you waiting for?
-----------------------------------------------------------------
You've probably seen Dr Rockso's signature or seen his post concerning the repair of Plastex. It's great stuff. It's really the most simple and cost effective way of repairing your fairings or other plastic parts.
Special thanks to Ed Kozlowski of Plastex for giving the kit away.
THIS JUST IN!
Ed, from Plastex, is offering to anyone on FZROnline.com the chance to receive a MASTER KIT #2006 without the cost of shipping! That's 16% off! You just pay the $74.95 for the kit!
This is only good through the month of June. This is an excellent deal for anyone who goes to "Track Days", does stunts, races or anyone who owns an old Fizzer!!!!
Be sure to visit the Plastex website (http://www.plastex.ca) and order your plastex today. You're going to need it anyway, might as well get ordering.

Everyone is eligible. But "original" means "original". It can't be a copy and paste from another site or some old dug up "How-To". Nerd

I'm glad you like the contest concept. I felt we needed more How-Tos and this is a great way of getting rewarded for doing a really good one.
And you're right, this benefits everyone!
I'm thinking about a "How-To: Installing a gatorade bottle as an overflow on the outside fo your frame" LOL2

That would be a good one Rage, I have been looking for an alternative mount/container for my coolant.. It won't work with the R1 tail swap so I am told. But you need to use the new Tiger endorsed G-Aid!

I hear the Tiger endorsement is like an extra 5hp. Thats pure speculation though.ShogunTX wrote:That would be a good one Rage, I have been looking for an alternative mount/container for my coolant.. It won't work with the R1 tail swap so I am told. But you need to use the new Tiger endorsed G-Aid!

Re: PLASTEX GIVEAWAY: The Best "How-To" Contest
Don't know what ever happened to this... but it sounds like BOTH mrfreeze5 and abs have swingarm swap write ups done. Where they are located I'm not sure. At some point do we vote? Or are people still doing write-ups?
I'm doing a bit of one for TK's R6 exhaust header mod along w/ my new FMF pipe, but honestly it's pretty much bolt-on and some fairing trimming and small bracket fab right now. Quite simple and I put plenty of pictures in so far. So anyway mine doesn't really qualify, and that's fine and dandy.
Any info on status of this contest / entries ... ?

I have been swamped and haven't been able to complete my valve clearance write up. Could use till august.
Re: PLASTEX GIVEAWAY: The Best "How-To" Contest
Idea:
I guess it depends on the Plastex guy or how any other supporter / product is brought to our table, but this could just be an annual thing.
It's a small family here right now anyway, and that would give people TIME AND MOTIVATION to do really good write-ups. (Time is important, because, as we see, MrFreeze, ABS and others took many months doing their builds in order to actually make an accurate write-up. Obviously they had to do some experimenting (1 step forward and 2 steps back) and lots of grinding and fabricating along the way). Hopefully this will also serve as an incentive for NEW members to take a more proactive role, particicipate AND learn, thereby helping everyone else by helping themselves. Thereby bringing up everyone's learning curve.
Hopefully this would keep people active, democratic, and not greedy also. If we had a MONTHLY contest people tend to get pretty greedy and it ends up being a greed / popularity contest. <note: it IS late and I'm pretty tired, so just thinking out-loud>

Re: PLASTEX GIVEAWAY: The Best "How-To" Contest
Well, the motivation behind the Plastex contest was that we needed some How-Tos on the site. I also knew that many people already had a How-To ready to go, they just didn't put it down in writing yet.
Plus, I rec'd the Plastex for free for taking a photo of my Plastex repair.
There will be more contests and giveaways coming. Always something brewing here...
