Cleaning bugs off jacket

A friend and I went riding last night and we ended up covered in dead insects (I can't believe that hasn't happened to me before). My helmet is easy enough to clean up, but what about getting the mosquito genocide off my jacket? I've got a Shift leather/textile jacket (mostly leather) that I assume can't go in the washer. Is plain old soap and water my best bet for getting it cleaned up without taking it to the cleaners?

for the leather, i recommend using lexol leather cleaning spray and conditioner spray. they can be found in automotive stores. they have a neutral ph so they won't damage the leather. the damp rag method would work fine for the mesh parts of the jacket.

I just leave them on. My leather jacket looks like a bug deflector from an 18 wheeler.

I haven't even worn my jacket yet, except for when I tried it on and bought it.. But being in the mosquito capital of the universe, well, I'm sure it'll be nice and splatted very quickly.

I'm pretty sure Minnesota is the skeeter capital of the universe.

I let them dry, brush them off with a dry rag then I take a wet rag and wipe off the residue.

This is an older thread, but I thought I would just chime in that this happened to me a few weeks ago, coming back just before 9pm one night. The bugs were totally ape-sh*t. My helmet was covered and the jacket had quite a few. I know it's whiny, but it's another good reason to not ride at night.
And the main reason I love to ride day OR night during the cool fall and winter months. NO BUGS !
