my fizzer 4 is going to the maxton mile to set a record

at least that's the plan. :headbang:

what up fellow fizzer freaks. it's been a hot minute since i posted on here. been really busy with work and mountain bike racing these fine days. so i thought i stop in and share a latest venture: setting a new record for a stock 400cc machine at the maxton mile. the old record is held by scott guthrie at 119.xx back in 1998ish. i have an experienced jockey who holds a few ama records to pilot my 400 (named "sucker punch") and i think it should be a piece of cake for him. he has a weight to power advantage over most all riders since he weighs in at 120 lbs. lol... (no, he's not a midget :p....)

so i had to convert the 400 back to bone stock -- change out the rear shock, steel brake lines, remove throttle lock, power adapter plug, etc.... also had the carbs cleaned at the shop where my jockey works and a quick dyno tuning done. we started with a 42.5 hp reading. after farting around with air/fuel mixtures and some parts that control those variables, we were showing consistent numbers in the 50hp range. changing out the old oil i had in there to a thinner repsol synthetic, they hope to get another hp or 2. not too bad for a 88 with 35k miles and no valve adjustments. so we shall see...

the jockey is also taking one of his bikes, hoping to break a 200mph record on his zx12 in the naked class. i'd like to see him come home with 2 records this time.

i know everyone here loves pictures and videos, so i'll post up i vid and a pic or two. nothing exciting, just some dyno work...

results from a run where the air/fuel ratio was off:

this was when we started getting the a/f mixture right:

Sounds pretty crazy. Which run is he doing first?

I wondered where you went... glad to see you're up to no good as usual... lol

I really enjoy your Track Vids. If you guys haven't seen Shift's track videos, they are really good. I think there on Google video or something.

not sure, but i think he just gets both the bikes in line and hops on each one to make a pass while the other bike gets back in line after some tweaking. at least that's how i think it goes. i was supposed to make it down to give him a hand, but will be too busy to make the trip. bummer

up to no good, who meeee? :hyprocrite

life's been a little crazy lately, but that's how i like it!

thanks for the kind words on my vids. a couple of them have been pulled off google because of copyright infringement claims -- what the????? i'll have to go straighten that out one day. and, if i ever find the time, i have a couple more videos waiting to be finished editing that should be purty good. maybe if i break myself again, i'll find the time to do some things i've been neglecting. ha ha :tard:

glad to see things are still kickin here! gotta run, late for work as usual :duh: :duh: :duh:

got a call from ali this evening and he said with all the rains and bad weather, he only got in one run around 5pm today. even with high humidity, hot temps and not optimal conditions, he was able to take the record with the one pass.

unfortunately, he couldn't pass tech with his zx12 which he was trying to take the record he has set at 199.xx to over 200 without any bodywork on the bike. tech found a "slice" or small cut in the tire and would not let him compete with it. he doesn't trust any bfe small shops to change tires on a carbon rim enough to risk it. i guess i don't blame him. banghead

so, he is left to only do more runs with the 400 tomorrow unless one of the other zx12 guys is nice enough to loan him a rear wheel. he's not counting on that though. he took the record from 119.38 to 123.xx on the only run he did. he forecasted he could do 128 before he left maxton. if conditions don't improve, i'm not so sure it will happen. so i'm keeping my fingers crossed, hoping conditions improve and he gets more runs in sunday --- and gets to run his 12. i'd like to see him extend that gap on the 400 stock record, but i gotta say i'm pretty happy as is. i own a fzr400 that holds an ama record! :headbang:

ali (they guy who piloted the 4) took video and edited a little something to watch. i gotta say i'm pretty proud to own a stock fzr that set an AMA record with 35.5k miles on it! some of you might remember a year and a half ago, when i bought this bike, it barely ran, overheated, etc... i spent about 70 hours fixing, cleaning, adjusting and restoring this bike. big thanks to ali for piloting the 4 and to RnR cycles of sterling, virginia for the great tune job they did on it! if you are in the area and need work done on your bike, these guys know what they are doing!
