Right side shift?

My roomate would like a bike, but has a problem with his left leg. He can push down but can't pull up. So I was thinking it shouldn't be too difficult to swap the shift lever and brake lever.
Maybe I could pick up a long shift shaft with two hiemen joints and use it to transfer to the other side and a longer brake line. He would probably get some type of cruiser.
Any problems here that I can't think of? Ever hear of any kits offered?

Maverick made a suicide shifter for his a while back. Not to say this is the best option, especially for an innexpirienced rider but just thought I'd share since it was relevant.

I thought about that, but it would have to be on the ride side in order to use the clutch. I think it would be a TERRIBLE idea for a beginner. Really need to keep both hands on the bars at all times. I would be devastated if something I created for him led to his demise.

Just modify the shift arm to extend out through the clutch cover... It's not exactly that easy, but it is doable.

Would he have problems with shifting by pushing a button?
These are pricey, but can be taken off and installed on the next bike....

I'm not sure how I would do that. The shaft sits in the cover right? To weld on an extension and try to get it to seal around the weld might be tough. Its been a while since I've seen the inside of a bike case....
Those push button kits are probably the same cost that the bike is gonna be

You own an FZR... everything and anything is possible.

I would modify the FZR to making it work on the right side. Im sure we can put our brain together here and find the solution.

It won't be an FZR, he needs a big bike that is slow and torquey.

Thanks, I'll look into those. That bike actually looks to suit him very well.

My dad's 68 Sportster XLCH had it reversed... no battery either. That was fun to kick start - bout snapped my leg off from the kickback.
