some of you may know that I have killed a few spark plug because of my leaking gasket....

I was wondering if I let the plug sit long enough to dry out, it they would be reusable??

I always light them with the lighter to dry them off and then put them under the wire wheel. Make sure you set the gap and try them.

Yeah what Mark suggested is good so try that first. But if you have 5 or 10 bucks head to Advance or pepboys and get autolite 4303's. I'm actually running champions in my 1000 and they are fine. It's not really a requirement to run the NGKs. Plus they cost too much.

I just have like 3-4 plugs that all fawled in the same two months in the same head...
so they were just flooded..
if I can re-use them, then that would be great.

my second head plug went out yesterday its nice to see something than the first head going out...

the other 3 have never gone out...I have never changed them since I bought it...(sept)

Gasket? I would have taken that money spent on a tank or other r1 stuff and got my motor straight first. Nothing sucks worse than having sweet looking bike sitting there with a bad motor

Shredex,
Put them in the oven (NOT microwave) at a LOW temp and dry them out.

Yo will then need to clean them of soot with a steel or brass brush. Use them before relying on them as a back up set.

No idea as to what actual degrees, I just put the Madams oven (NOT while she was around !!) on to the lowest it would go, leave for about 1/2 hour and pull them out . They are definitely too hot to handle for quite a while :-}

The lowest I can go on a digital oven is 200 degrees.

considering what they see and shunt in the way of heat on our bikes that should be ok.
In your place i would try ONE and see the result. As I said use a steel but preferably a brass wire brush (used for cleaning suede shoes etc) to clean the plug AFTER being cooked as the soot crap will be brittle not gungy.

Please take photo's of a before afterwards so we can add this to the WIKI as a FACT rather than as I have it as a guestimate.

you had better tell us where you get your plugs from.here in the UK they are 6UKP (8.75 USD) EACH for the medium quality ones and about 8+ UKP for the precious metal versions.

I did mention that (in a previous post) they could be used as emergency back-up set after gapping & testing..

so why spend $20 when I can reuse the old ones and use that $20 for something I could use like gas and parts to finish the USD fork swap and so on.

i work 4-10 hours a week at $8/hr

George, I will try it with one plug and see how it turns out.
Iv got a wire automotive brush that I can use to scrap it
