Hey guys, sorry, I still haven't gotten pictures of my new SV650, but I just wanted to share what's been goin on. The previous owner had let the bike sit for about a year, needless to say it ran quite poorly (idling around 3000 even after warming up). So I ran some sea foam through it which brought the idle down to normal. Unfortunately, I have to hold slight pressure on the throttle to keep it from dying. I tried adjusting the idle, but it is already backed all the way up.

Also, the tank had some rust in it, so I am presently religning the tank with Kreem. Seemed to work great for my dad's bike, so we'll see!

I hope you have better luck your Kreem project than this chap. The sheets on the ground for some reason were choking off the fuel supply to his petcock. Ummmm...

For this reason and others I perfer to us POR-15. For about $50 you can buy a kit to do your tank for what its worth. But I'm sure who's ever product you use its all about the prep and following the product manufacturer's instructions to a T. If nothing else maybe these photos will inspire others that need to seal their tanks to follow their applicable sealer's instuctions. And get some pictures of your SV up will ya.

Using liners requires far more dedication than most people have.

The simplest way to de-rust your tank is electrolysis and it is way cheaper !!!!!!

. Involving an iron nail, a battery /battery charger and some of your Moms/ GF's/ Wifes washing soda from the laundry room.

cost under 5USD yes 5 bucks

Or, if you really want to go on the cheap, a cup of gas in the tank and a handful of loose change (or ball bearings if you're fancy), then shake the bejesus out of the tank. Job done for 25 cents worth of gas.

yep I've heard people using BB's to shake around.

Hard edged stuff works best. nuts and bolts. If you can strap it to a paint shaker you have it made.

There's a place here that puts it in a tank of hot sand and swishes it around but Im sure they are expensive.

I like the .25 cent gas trick and the electrolysis. Much cheaper.

George, I'm not sure you can say Kreem is crap. I mean, I guess you can, but I didn't have any issues with mine despite what people said. Lined my tank with it 2 seasons ago and have had no problems with it. The directions to follow do suck and it's very time intensive, but I came out with a very nice lined tank.
