I was looking for compatible oil filters for my Honda and I stumbled upon this guy.

It's a reusable, cleanable oil filter. It claims to offer superior filtration to the standard one-use filters (but who wouldn't if you're trying to sell a $130 oil filter. Anyone have any experience with these?

Very trick BUT how many times a year do you change your oil ?

me its about 1 a year and my last K & N filter cost me what 15 Quid and the Scott 83 quid + P & P say 90 quid total that is SIX years of filters before it works out cheaper.
The only advantage would be if that Scott fitted your next bike that you bought (how long do you keep your bikes is another factor )

The only reason for me to buy K & N was the fact it comes with a bolt head type fitting for taking the sucker off to replace it else I might have bought a cheaper model so the Scott would look even more un-economical .

I change oil at least once a month and still can't see any kind of savings. I use fram filters, they run ? $8 ? I factor in my time and it really becomes uneconomical.

He's older and wiser. I would go with George!

$135? damn thats expensive. i'll stick with conventional filters.

RR how many thousand miles do you do anmonth on the bike to warrent that frequency of oil change?

I guess if you are a racer who should change the oil before every weekend that would be helpful and sorta cost effective.

I change the oil at 3500miles. It might be a bit obsessive, but it is quick and easy and fairly cheap.

I did a thousand miles in this last week. Summer months, my commute is 30 miles each way..most days on the way home I take the scenic/twisty routes and rarely do my days clock less than 100 miles. A couple days a week I do a hundred and twenty mile loop or so after coming home. Unless the weekend is rainy I tend to do 2-300mile days.

I rode from Northern Michigan to Kentucky (660miles) and back in July with a bunch of riding in Kentucky. And then from here to Pittsburgh(550m) and back in October.

I'm considering doing one of the Iron Butt qualifiers (around Lake Michigan in 24 hours-1000 miles) early next season.

screw that...means its more work to do an oil change. Gotta take it out and then clean it, cuz we all know oil cleans off very easily.

i'm lucky enough i don't change oil. i burn enough i just keep adding oil and change the filter every once in a while. every 3,000 here. Its not cost effective unless you race every weekend and change oil every weekend

putting in those kind of miles and a 3.500 change point is sensible, the longest trip on the FZR has been 120 miles each leg. The longest ride in the uk was 335 miles each way, I did FT lauderdale to NY but I took my time with that site seeing and generally rubbernecking lots of side roads, took me a week. The trip meter was disconnected (another story LoL)

what is that Iron Butt qualifiers? is that something yuo do or an event that is put on ?

scotts filters are great and work WAY better than most off the shelf ones, whoever is paying 8 bucks for a fram needs to stop, you can get BOSCH's which are way better than frams for less than that.

if you did track days etc it would be worth it for the extra filtering and not worrying about needing to change the oil and not having one on the shelf

Why are they better? I can only get Bosch at the old school auto parts store in my town..8am-5pm and sats til noon..

that sems like fun i might have to try that next spring. maybe we can hokup and do it reel
