Throttle problems

Hey everyone,
I'm having some trouble. Whenever I turn the handlebars to the right, the bike revs up about a grand. I'm gonna' go out on a limb and say it has to do with the throttle cable. What do I do to fix this? Can I fix it near the the throttle, or am I going to have to take off the tank and work on the throttle body?

sounds like one of your throttle housings came undone or is binding against something. take the tank etc, off so you can see what's happening to your cables when you turn the bike.
or just hang on when you turn right from now on. you should be rolling the throttle on in the corners anyways... heh heh

what he means is take off the tank/airbox COVER .... and the AIRBOX if necessary... to see what the cable is binding on. If the cables are over 6 years old (likely) you'll want to go ahead and replace both of them. It's a pain in the arse but they can get rusted and snap after that many years. You can only lubricate and adjust them so much until they just stretch and wear out or snap.
Is your right clip-on (throttle assembly) loose ?? Perhaps the cable is not routed correctly. Did someone recently service the bike and accidentally route the pull cable around something they shouldn't have? It might be hard to tell if you didn't see what it looked like originally, none of the manuals show the positions of these things worth a crap.
Fortunately it's only 1000 RPM so probably won't kill you anyway. A throttle cable snapping while riding could cause trouble though, like that car, truck, or 18-wheeler behind you .... and your bike suddenly loses all ability to stay on the gas. So replace those throttle cables or Daniel-son get squashed like grape.
