NEW CLUTCH Question

Post by YAM93 »

Ok, i'm considering replacing my clutch, possibly some springs and pawl parts (don't really know what they're called just yet). I don't know if something is bent, worn out or what. The FZR is having a hard time (sometimes impossible) shifting from 3rd to 2nd. (sometimes other gear changes also) So I'm thinking new Barnett or Vesrah or DP clutch kit. But i know i'll have to take the oil pump out and not sure what else, well, i have an idea and the Clymer manual to help but i want you guys' input, scale of 1 to 10 difficulty, other things besides gasket i'll need / other things i am not aware of that i should be aware of to check / replace etc.

Also how many weekends should i allow, how much real money in parts (not just the kit?). And what a shop should charge me if I decide to have them do it instead. (kind of afraid of not knowing what i'm looking at / missing something / re-assembling something wrong)

All opinions / suggestions as to what could really be wrong are also welcome. (besides the obvious fact that i've been beating the bike to death pulling wheelies lately, but probably not much more than most of you have)

 Thanks in advance. Oh, also, when it does shift into gear, there is no problem or weakness pulling plenty of power and speed. So i think the deeper components of the transmission are fine.
