I'm wanting to build an engine for land speed racing. That is where the participant has from 1 mile up to 5 miles to get up to top speed. The engine that I want to build will be in the 500cc Blown Fuel class. After reading just about every thread on this forum and the Archives I have some what settled on a configuration of engine parts that should give me optimum results. But before I spend money on parts, I'm hoping to get some feedback from some of the knowledgeable people on this forum.
I'm looking at using a FZR 400 crankshaft along with FZR/YZF 62mm cylinders and head. That should net me 489cc. I'll use YZF Throttle bodies and injectors so it will be easier to control the fuel with the Garrett GT 1241 Turbo. Individual nitrous injectors will be placed between the throttle bodies and the head. I am hoping for 120 reliable horsepower from 500cc.
The questions I have are :
Will the 400 crank fit into the 1996 and later FZR/YZF cases?
What is the opinion of the 400 crank holding up to 130 HP?
Will FZ cams fit into a FZR head (less overlap)?
Are the connecting rods in YZFs strong enough for 130HP?
Thanks to any and all who have the answers.
