I can't believe I just did what I did.

I can't believe I just did what I did.
So last week, in the span of less than 24 hours, I managed to sell my FZR and buy a brand new CBR600RR.
It started as a half-baked whim to buy a 1000RR in Iowa while I waited for a dealership to put a new chain on the FZR during our trip home from Indiana to Minnesota (funny how fast lack of lubrication will pwn a chain ). That got the idea in the back of my head. The next day I was talking with my brothers and a couple friends about our trip and I commented on how I wished that I had a [more] reliable ride so I could play with the FZR as a project bike. That isn't a possibility for me right now, I don't have garage space for a project. My brother suggested that I stick my bike on craigslist with a high price tag, just to see what happened.
The next morning (Friday), I put the bike up for 2500, listing in detail all of the things that were wrong with it (brakes, sprockets, fork seals, needs oil change, burns a little, etc.). Within three hours of posting the ad, the bike was gone. Sold for 2000 to a guy who didn't want to wait for me to do the repairs, he didn't even care that it was covered in bugs from my trip.
Later on Friday I went with the gf to pick up the bike that she bought while I was on vacation ('02 Shadow Spirit 750). She wanted me to ride it home for her, since she has never ridden a bike aside from in the MSF class. We picked that up and went straight to the local stealership so she could pick up a new helmet (her current helmet sucks). We walked in and there it was, a shiny new red and black 600RR. Fresh off the truck from another dealership, it hadn't been there the day before (all they had was the ugly silver one). I went in on Saturday morning, and I had a CBR before lunch.
I'm not real excited about having a payment, and my new insurance rate doesn't put a smile on my face. But all of that is forgotten as soon as I climb aboard the new bike. Something about hitting 70mph in 1st and being smooth as sh*t the rest of the way. The only thing I don't like about the bike (so far) is the placement of the kick stand. The only good way I've found to lower it is to dig around with my heel in front of the footpeg and hope I catch it.
I'm not planning on leaving the site here. I like the group that we've put together and I'd rather stick around here than deal with a bunch of 18 y/o squids on a CBR forum (sorry, my general impression of CBR riders, don't get me started on gixxers).
...waits for the tomatoes to start flying.

Congrats bro...
I wonder what I can get for mine??? $2500 - $3000, more?
Naw!!! I'm not selling, put to much into my fizz to sell it now & she sure turns alot of heads.
If you haven't checked out my fizz, take a look on the Archives under pictures "Look what I did in 2 weeks". We never got to hook up for the ride we was suppose to take, hopefully one day.

I don't trust the fuel gauge, I'll still watch the trip meter.Crash wrote:MAN this makes me even more stoked to get a 636..however if 600rr in the right price range color scheme came along I would probably bite....Nice bikes..+ you get a fuel gauge
Dragon, you're from MN aren't you?
Re: I can't believe I just did what I did.
Good luck with the new bike. I love the new 07/08 CBRs. Since they got rid of the F4i, they softened up the ergos on the CBR a little bit, and the bike feels great. I can't believe how smooth these bikes are, and not to mention they look great. I'm one of the few people I know that really like the blue/silver color scheme. If I got a new bike right now, I would definitely pick the 600RR!
But, I still love the little FZR, and I'm not quite done with her yet.

Funny that you should call your FZR little. I feel like the CBR is so much smaller than the FZR, I can throw it around like I never would on the FZR.
