So my clutch needs replaced, I ordered friction plates and I will receive them Tuesday.
I was thinking we should start a thread talking about clutches, anything and everything. Lets talk about what we use, what we like best, problems. Lets leave adjustments and broken/welded pushrods out and focus on clutch plates, hubs, springs slipping, and performance.
Cool idea? I think it will help a lot of people out.

Re: Clutch setup
I would like to start by telling what I use and why. I like oem type cork friction plates. I also use Vance & Hines springs. (New old stock). This is the setup I always recommend when asked. I feel with oem you get the best in longevity and control I like using the stronger springs and here's why. I feel I get great control. If I want to shift hard and lift the front off the ground, I can easily. The springs make the clutch plates really grab awesome. The reason most people don't like stronger springs is you really have pull hard on the clutch lever. I very rarely ride for more than a couple hours at one time. I think if you went on a road trip it would really be crappy. Your arm would probably fall off. Lol
With this setup you can still have excellent control feathering and slipping the clutch.
So this is what I like. What do you use and like? Please explain why so newbies understand and can make choices.

Re: Clutch setup
I forgot to add. I like the oem type clutch also because of the price. Buy them and springs separate and you'll save a lot of money than buying a kit, and in my opinion you get a better setup too. You probable don't need the steel plates, they very rarely ever need replaced so its a little of a waste if you buy a kit that includes them. Save the money and buy other stuff for your bike, or even better, take you girl out for dinner
