FZR400 Engine Donor Info Request...

Post by ~JM~ »

FZR400 engine donor info request.

I have read that the FZR600 engine into the 400's frame is a good swap.

By chance will the 750 engine or something larger than the 600 fit into the frame?

Thanks

What, No one has any information to share?

I was told that this is the premier FZR400 site. Is there another site that I should check out instead?

Thanks

What seems to be the hold up on swapping the FZR750 engine into the FZR400 frame?

Is the 750 to tall?

I have a line on a FZR750.

Thanks

The 600 and 400 engines are very similar; swapping a 600 into a 400 chassis is nearly a drop-in proposition. The 750 engine is very different, and - if it fits at all - would likely entail significant rework and fabrication of motor mounts and sprocket spacers to line everything up.

Anything can be swapped into anything - witness the cruiser guy with the Chevy Big Block V8 engine. How much time, effort, and cash do you want to put into this?

On a different topic, a fellow with a FZR750 is trying to restore his machine, and needs an engine. If you decide to pursue a different tack, would you be kind enough to give him the details on this engine you found?

Well... Your talking to the guy who owns a Jeep CJ7 with a Cadillac 500 engine in it. LOL! I like to walk softly, yet carry a big stick.

The 750 is still in a bike & it's located in Oregon for anyone that is interested. It's actually an FZ not an FZR. I don't know what the differences are.

This is a second generation of the FZ series. It has 4 valves. About 110hp. to the rear. If you ask if its been dropped or laid down, get real its an '86, the bike is as old as me and i've had it for only 4 yrs. and its been sitting for 3 of the yrs. I'm selling cause I need the money. I recently have had the plugs changed to iridium's , all gas drained and flushed and replaced. Bike needs tags, other than that it is ready to rock and roll. Its runs very well, one minor problem is that it idles a little off, every once in a while it needs a minimal rev. I've ridden the bike for some time now and it has power and handling for any rider begging to ride and is smooth. Great first bike. Contact me by text at five four 1 9 eight one 11thirty eight if you are interested.

Yeah, he already has an FZ engine that a PO put in - he's trying to get an actual 5-valve FZR mill.
