FZR 600 Radiator Guard

Post by Deputy1042 »

I've been curious about this for some time & decided to throw it out there to see if anyone has an answer. Why is it that the '89 FZR 600 had a radiator guard while the newer models do not? According to the schematics, the radiator for the '89 and the '93 (my bike's year) are the same part number.
Unfortunately, the radiator guard is no longer for sale through Yamaha and I have been unable to find one used (without the entire radiator).

What I'm referring to...

I've got one I'll sell ya for 20 bucks shipped. The 89 has one on it and I'll probably be parting out most of it with the way it's looking now. Either way I can let the guard go.

Nope only the 89's have it that I've seen. My 92 didn't and anytime I see one on a bike the bike is an 89. It's a mystery.

The thing is that I cannot even find an after market version for the 600 1K's yup but not the 600.

TK why not troll the idea for a batch of bling FZR stainless steel ones ?

On a related topic, does anyone know of any chrome/stanless guards avaliable for other bikes (such as perhaps the 600 fazer?) that'll fit the FZR600 with little or no moding?

Hi,
as some of you know my old pal is shutting his sheet metal shop and he has lots of odds & ends of stainless sheet so I said make me a ZR600 rad guard (since the bike is in his workshop dangling from the roof while I do a swing arm swap he has the opportunity to get creative <BG>
See:-

http://www.saltmine.org.uk/pics/rad-grill-3.jpg

Simplicity it self comes with 4 bolts, washers & 2 nuts one domed all in satin stainless steel (does not show scratches when cleaned of road crap )

That one off cost 25UKP what I want to do is group buy and reduce the price orders for 10 would be good but 5 will do we have till month end to do this as this is the last month of his business and he is twiddling his thumbs OK

I will be responsible for shipping and since they are not heavy or bulky the can be sent Royal mail.
Paypal payments to me george@saltmine.org.uk and when they are gone they are gone

Hi,
Well thanks to some of you the first batch has GONE and he has made a second batch in satin finish and a small batch to order originally in MIRROR finish of which there is 1 left (£35.00 UKP as the sheet material are far more expensive)

P + P within UK is 2.75 UKP

P + P to the states is 7.50 UKP
