Nice practice is always good. There is an elementary school with plastic pylons marking the "bus" lane. When out riding I make it a point to stop in to practice slalom in both directions along with slalom into hard braking.

Practice is a MUST in my book. I do the same slalom stuff. I usually use a deserted backroad and slalom the lane divider dashes. I'll do twenty 'push' counter-steers each direction, do twenty 'pulls'. Accelerate while doing them (from speed and from 1st gear on up), Decel/brake while doing them.

In the truck yards I will do my panic stops in a straight line a few times, then I'll get a nice arc going and stand on the brakes while 'evading' a mark on the ground. I'll do that in both directions. I'll also pick a target, too close to be stopped by, straight ahead of me while doing stops and steer arond it while on the brakes.

It all helps. I've been riding street for almost 28 years now and I have only contacted another vehicle/animal/solid object once . I've been down a few times street, countless times dirt and a four times on track. Gear is good!...but better yet to have it as a backup plan.
