Re: Just put PODs on my bike
Again you guy's are comin through and what Y-Geo said makes total sense... the jetting that Mrfreeze is suggesting also makes sense. I would start with a 115 to start.... because I think that will be a good start and then look at how it runs I am a little lower than he is 42 - 4600 ft is where I start, on the valley floor, so Mrfreeze if you want to sell your 115's out of your jet kit hit me up!.... Also what needle comes with that kit so I can pick it up online or order just the needle.
Thanks
Scott

Depending on how your bike is set up, you might be ok with a 115. I can run a 115 here, but if I go up the mountain for a ride, it gets spluttery under heavy throttle about about 7500ft.89FIZZER wrote:Again you guy's are comin through and what Y-Geo said makes total sense... the jetting that Mrfreeze is suggesting also makes sense. Personally, I have found a complete jet kit isnt really worth the money if you have a general idea of where you tuning needs to be, or if you live at a higher elevation. Adjustable aftermarket needles are a must in more cases, but when you buy a jet kit, youre getting multiple sets of jets which you may or may not need, and in my case was a complete waste.
With your bike being stock minus the carbs, I would try a 110 main to begin with. Without a full exhaust, you wont be moving enough air to take full advantage of the pods. Fo your setup and elevation, Id say 110 main, stock pilot, and an aftermarket needle setup. If you find the 110s arent enough, go drop about $12-15 for a set of 112.5 and try those out.
Tuning carbs is a bit of art, intuition, luck, and magic and it helps to know how your bike is supposed to feel, pay close attention to how it responds. It may(will) take some trial and error to find the magic spot, and it can get tedious making all those minute changes. RPM range of the issue and as well as if it is a soggy rich sound, or if its running lean. Youll have to learn what your bike is telling you, so it may take a while and a lot of tweaks if this is your first carb tuning. Its not difficult, just tedious, but time well spent. After you do it the first time, youll have it down for the future.
Oh, and one more thing. Very important. Be sure to synch your carbs!!!! Personally, I like to synch them before tuning, and again afterward.
