After further inspection...........crank bearings on the rear cylinder are gone or worn badly. I will have to pull the head on the front cylinder and SPLIT the cases to change the bearings out on both rods. Getting all my part numbers together to place the order this weekend. Cant wait to tear it down this weekend.

I will take pics of the rebuild.

I just priced the crank for $700 bucks, lets pray to god that the one in there does not have any grooves of any sort and needs to be replaced. I dont have that kind of money. Everything else will be under $400 and thats new bearings, seals, rings, valves, and gaskets.

Tore into the engine today to check out the crank and just like I thought......it has some grooves in it. Im going to have to order a flywheel puller its like a mp#31 to remove the flywheel from the crank. Once I get it removed, Im going to drop it off to get machined and order some thicker bearings for it along with some gaskets, seals, piston rings, and rod. Here are some pics of the process. I have the cases split and cleaned.

Maybe I'm just a little slow but... I don't remember seeing you post what the bike is exactly. Year / Model ? I thought Suzuki made 800cc and 1400cc Intruders. I assume yours is the 1400cc, but what's the year? How many years did they make them etc. ? I believe at some point they stopped and re-badged them as M109R's or something.

Thanks, keep up the good work, it's looking sweet.

Nice work so far. Did you have any other surprises other than the crank?

No. Just the connecting rod that went to the crank. All in all, will be easy fix if I can get the crank spun and ready for new bearings.

Did some research and found out that the crank is history. I mean trashed. I say....... banghead .

I started hitting up all the salvage yards for a used crank and rods and they want $450. Then, I found a place in Destin, Florida that just happens to have VS800 Intruder engine out of a 93 that is the exact model I need for only $425 with a warranty and only 14,800 miles on it. Guaranteed in great running condition so the wife and I decided to take a weekend vacation and head to Gulf Shores,Florida and on the way stop and pick up the engine. let you know how it turns out when we return.

I picked up the engine last weekend and was able to get it put in tonight. Hopefully will have it done this weekend and out for a test ride.
Went to Gulf Shores for the day and hit the beach with the wife and then went to mobile to visit some friends of ours and last to see the USS ALABAMA. I have some pics from the trip Ill post tonight. That battleship was freakin awesome!
