I dont know why no one trusts the clips :headscratch:

I ran one on my old 1000 on a 520 setup with no issues

my buddy had a rivet type fail, we replaced it with a clip type, and that was almost 2 years ago on his FZR1000

ive read and read reviws about them and personally the only way i understand they can fail is over 4-5 miles or WRONG INSTALLATION
in my case i had the swingarm off my bike and figured just let the dealer cut the links and press it but they cut too much off , so i was wondering if i could actually use 2 master rivet links to make up for the -2 links i needed ... but i just found a brand new chain for $50 shipped so ill just wait till that one comes in and just take the bike somwhere and let them do it .. my other chain came in last week i got it on ebay for 75 so now because i didnt want to buy the $50 chain tool i ended up spending on another chain .. :deadhorse:

what sucks is i have a brand new 525 gold chain but i dont think they will fit my 520 sprockets even though ive read some forum that it actually worked

That depends on the chain build being similar ie the pin diams are the same & the x ring or O ring being the same thickness .

In most cases NO.

ok i can understand that but what if the master rivet links were rk520 links for rk 520 chain .. would it be safe to use more then one master on a chain

PMF,
ALL the links are riveted so having more than 1 home brew rivet job is neither here nor there PROVIDING you use the right tool & do it right.
Mine has two on it the original put on by the PO and mine (since his work looked like factory (as does mine ('cept I put UV paint on the link so I could find it to inspect it JUST in case ))

This is why it's easier to just get the tools and do it yourself. Now you have to wait for a new chain, the mechanic fugged up your other chain, and it's just a big mess.

Get the tools and at least if you screw it up you can blame yourself. Think about it, you'll probably go thru 10 chains in the next 20 years, it's worth it.
