Having to strip 1k to get to gearbox and im extremely impressed with the condition of the pistons/bores. They look and measure up like new. The bores are actually 1/100 of a mm smaller than new! Pistons are worn 1/100 mm. so clearance is same as new clearance specs. Havent measured ring end gap yet.
Should I hone and re-ring? or am I waisting my money?
Or could I skuff by hand with wet and dry and use old rings? or could I just assemble as is?
I don't mind spending the money but I don't like waisting it eather. Will cost at least 1K to fix the dang 2nd gear already.

If your rings are in spec, just run a glaze breaker or ball hone lightly through a few times. Why go through a full break-in cycle if you don't need to?

Break in cycle? Ive read many disscusions on running in engines and come too the conclusion no running in nessasary. just go hard out from the word go.
