License testing
So I've been riding for a year on a permit. And so I figured I'd go take my riding test for my license. Well I failed miserable two times in a row. I didn't make through the cone weave. I just don't understand why weaving through cones going less than 5 mph is significant. I ride almost everyday. Curves, interstate, back roads. Everywhere. Never laid my bike down. If you have to weave like that then you're most likely riding where you shouldn't be. And a something else that bothers me is that I can take a rider course and not even have to test my rider skills so what the significance of this test? Sorry had to vent

Re: License testing
I think the cones have to do with city driving through crowded streets filled with people. ha! I don't know why they do it, but the FZR is probably the worst bike to do it with.

Re: License testing
Here in Michigan, if you take (and pass) the MSF Basic rider course, you get a cert which eliminates the state's requirement for the riding portion of state licensing.
My opinion is that if you can't do the cone deal, you need to practice until you can. You SHOULD be able to, it's not hard.

Re: License testing
In Washington we have to so the same test in msf as you do through the state. But they give you chances to get it right, but if you don't pass you don't get you're certification.

One example of a "road" where I felt the cone and other low speed exercise skills pay off:

1990 FZR 1000, 1993 engine, terrible state... but improving.
