Ugh dropped my bike today...should I get it checked out?
Dropped my bike in a garage today while I was getting on it. I managed to slow the fall a bit but it still went down on its left side. To be honest I don't think anything happened but when I was riding all I could do is focus on every little bump and wobble wondering if the alignment was off. Do you guys normally get an alignment or something after a soft drop? Could a light drop in a garage even throw off the alignment?

Did you scratch any paint or the bar ends or anything? No? Ride on my friend. I grabbed too much brake while backing one time and had to put it down in front of twenty other bikers... It didn't do anything to the bike so I rode off. Trying to save face. If you don't hear anything weird in the engine and no white smoke from oil getting where it shouldn't then you are probably fine.

Not sure to be honest. The fairings and bar ends are a little worn from previous owners. The bar end mirror was a little off but not much and I did hear the sound of plastic hitting the ground. It happened kind of quickly. One of the attendants came over and helped me bring it back up so it wasn't really on the ground long enough for me to take a good look underneath. When I looked at it later it didn't seem like anything was damaged which seemed a little odd. I'll check again tomorrow.

I wouldn't worry too much unless something is broken. I've had mine sitting outside and a strong storm rolled in and blew it over and it was ok ( I was renting at the time and didn't have access to a garage). I was a little nervous at first listening to every little noise, allowing my mind to play tricks on me.

I've dropped my bike 3 times in the last few months. Broke a mirror, cracked some plastics, bent the bars, but internally everything is fine.
I do deliveries so the bike gets some rough treatment

I forgot to actually post a follow up. I did check the bike the next day and it looked like it fell on the metal cover that says Yamaha on it. I guess this is the crank cover? When I touched it a little metal dust came off and it was a bit scratched but other than that it didn't look like anything was really wrong with the bike. It was a really soft drop and I did awkwardly slow it down as it fell but I felt it'd be good to ask you guys anyway just to be sure.
I have much bigger problems right now with my VRR having gone bad but I'll be back on the road soon hopefully while it's still nice enough to be riding...

i can say from mine being dropped 4 times at either stopped or slow speed. once when i was learing how to ride trying to do a U-turn hit a hole at less than 1mph and just kinda fell over worse thing that happened on that one was that i had a full tank of gas and had rattle caned my plastics and had to re sand and paint them. the next 2 times were coming into my garage going around my car in the rain in the grass. then my buddy backed into it and knocked it over. like you i freaked out the first 2 times but after that figured these things are tanks. mine has been down at least 2 more times before i got it. the plastics had bad rash that some one tried to cover up. i bought it from a buddy of mine who just wanted something different and had been trying to get the layers of bad paint of. i sand blasted the plastics and found the rash.

I think your bike would be fine. I hit a gravel trapp at 150kmh a couple of months ago. bike rolled a couple of times. Smashed all the plastics, tank and a few other things. But mechanically its basically OK. Ive been riding it again lately, the forks are slightly bent but i recon i could straighten them if I had help. Ive been working on it fixing it and im still finding gravel everywhere on it. There was even gravel inside the air filter box!
EDIT Jeez i just had a look at the date of the first post in this thread...August last year! and still on the first page of forum. And now that ive posted here it might make it till next year!
