OFF the grid- Y_Geo.
Hi all,
well having worked hard and been a good boy my wife and my daughters are taking me home for a well earned rest so from 1st week of July to the first week of September I am off the grid & this board.
When I get back I will be going to hospital for surgery to my spine so I can ride again (been awhile since i did along ride) IF the outcome is ok well I should be able to log back on in October, worst case scenario is Darrin will put a black border round my last post.
Till then ride safe be good to each other and remember I am only one guy, the board is for the FZR community run by the FZR community and I am proud I could do my bit & God willing do some more after the Op.

TG,
the Op is serious and the odds of walking away are good BUT as the surgeon said they can go wrong.
The last surgeon said he had not a had a failure in 5 years guess it was not my day !

hi,delvryboy wrote:What are ya having done specifically?
I have two discs and a vertebrae that have moved and are impinging on the sciatic nerve (the major nerve group that control the legs it seems.)
the up shot is that at times the nerve gets touched/pinched and it is like an electric shock that runs down both legs but primarily the left and I lose momentarily the ability to stand up. The after effect of the pain is that the legs ache right down to the calf muscles as though I had just run a marathon and the loss of "normal" feeling in my feet.this can last for minutes or to the better part of a day.
At first they tried manipulation by physiotherapy but because there are multiple elements involved this has not been successful. So they have decided that a more direct approach is going to be needed.which could involve a plate & scews to set the vertebrae up and allow the discs to recover. The whole lot will be left in place for "period of time" whilst I have physio to strengthen the muscle walls and then the meccano will be removed.
It is all very Iffy despite the fact they have 3d scans of the area they are not sure what the physical condition of the vertebrae is
