Water Leaking

Post by China_Racer_1 »

Anyone know what is the cause of water leaking from this hole?

Image

Bad gasket? where does this hole go into anyway?

I just changd the pistons and its a new gasket in there between the head and the barrels and base all new stuff.

Thanks
Steve

Unless I'm RTF out of it, that is your 'blow the crap from around the spark plugs' port; should be one on the other side. It allows you to use an air hose to clean out your spark trench prior to removing the plugs, so crap doesn't fall into your cyls. Water leaking out there means there's a little water in the spark plug trench...

Ah so I will look for a leak that is filling that trench up then its a constant leak so something has to be filling it.

Thanks a bunch

Don is right that is the "blow the crap out" hole I would be looking at the rad hoses that run over that section and into the plastic air dam that is just to the rear of spark plug valley & funneling in water. this may be the source of your flywheel corrosion hassle if the water is getting into that space.

as the engine cools the air is sucked into all the hot cavities ie the stator region.

We used to get a lot of guys complain that "mysteriously" their dirt bikes were full of water after a ride. They rode through streams the engine metal suddenly cooled the air round the flywheel & clutch and the gaskets let water be sucked in.

What we did was fit breather nozzles on the clutch basket & fly wheel cover (yamaha had places to do this but did not put the nozzle on ) and then run hoses to the steering stem height. end of water logging problem .
