also when i had my R1 i seen alot of people buying new slim digital kits cheap for like 40-50 bucks ballast and bulbs but they still had to run a dedicated line so im guess with so many diff makers or these kits some are not made as good or such .. also tried my old Hid kit on my R1 and it wouldnt ignite without a dedicated 12v line .. Then after ordering slim digital ballasts they were just plug and play no 12+ or negative .. You should try to run the ballast and bulb straight hard wire ,just run the + and - stright to your battery and see if its giving you a flashing then you will know its its the bulb , ballast , or wiring from the bike ..

My HID light started turning off and on a couple weeks ago. I figured that there wasn't enough power to keep it on so I bought a relay harness to connect it directly to the battery.

After installing the harness, the light kept turning on and off until it finally burned my ballast. I installed a new Ballast and bulb and it still turns on and off. The battery/power cable is on tight, it is making good ground, and the plugs are fine.

The right light is halogen and the left one is HID. The problem is with the HID side only.
I think it's somewhere in the stock harness. Has this ever happened to anyone else?
you need to take some jumper cables and hook the HID system directly up to your car battery. And when i mean "directly" I mean the (HID ballast and HID capsule) need to be on a bench completely disconnected from the bike. then connect the HID system directly to the 12-14 volt system on you're car or truck. I bet it will work, because i have had this same problem.

how....in good detail , do you have the HID system installed in you're bike? bill

I originally had them connected directly to the stock H4 (Halogen Bulb) connector. The ground spade connector on the ground side and the power connector on the High-Beam side so that they turn on only with the stock switch on High.

After about 2-3 weeks of having it like this, the HID would turn off while driving then turn off about a minute later and just continued doing that since. I figured the ballast wasn't getting enough power through the stock wiring so I installed a Relay Harness with a fuse straight from the battery. This didn't fix the problem and my ballast burned out after turning on and off so many times.

I installed a new and bulb using the same Relay harness but it's doing the same thing. It turns on for a while and then turns off, and turns back on after a minute etc. It's not a loose cable or anything like that because I can be driving over bumpy roads and it won't turn off. Then I drive on the smoothest road, and it turns off. I have shaken all the cables that I see in the front and relay harness, battery cables, and I have shaken the bike and jumped on it and the light won't turn off. It's only while driving.

relay's do not work worth a crap when under powered. the flickering ballast through your'e "relay" setup is self explanatory.

you ever heard a starter solenoid buzz and click repeatably when you trun the key , it's a low battery that causes this.

A relay will do the same thing if you are having voltage issues.........take the relay out , take the HID system out......and then bench test it with a known good 12 volt power source, "not the battery in your'e bike", "the fzr's battery is the last place you should look for a known good battery".

These are regular ballasts, not Slim ballasts. I was planning on bench testing it this weekend when I had time, but I received the capacitors in the mail yesterday so I decided to give one a shot. I connected the capacitor directly to the stock bulb connector. I rode it for about 10 miles in total last night and it didn't turn off. It did turn off when I used the capacitor and relay harness together so I'm assuming the relay is faulty.

The light used to flicker so fast that it was unnoticeable until I put the light up real close to the wall. Now with the capacitor and no relay harness, the light doesn't flicker at all. :D :D :D

I'm gonna ride it for a longer period of time this weekend and I'll let you guys know how it goes.

This thing was driving me nuts.
Thanks to all of you for the help. I really appreciate it.

Looks like it's fixed. I drove it around this weekend and these past couple days and the light doesn't turn off anymore.

Thanks again for all the help guys. Thanks for giving me the idea of a capacitor Cad600. :udaman :udaman :udaman

No problem.
Yes, that is a Single Sided Swingarm FZR600 that I built.

Something is lurking, waiting, wanting to be built......It calls to me from the darkness....

I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel....Then I realize that it is the train coming to run my ass over....
