turning left depresses brake lever

Title pretty much says it all but here goes...

While rebuilding my bike ( '94 FZR600) I bought some new coated levers. The brake lever is shaped like the clutch lever which is different from the old one I had. Now when I turn to the left the lever bumps into the fairing and causes my front tire to slow down, hence, not safe at all!!! Is that the reason why the old lever was shaped different or did I do something wrong? I'm going to try rotating it to free up some room but I don't think it will totally solve the issue.
Has anyone else dealt with this before? If so, any suggestions?

I certainly hope you all feel privilaged to have such an esteemed genius on this forum. I did indeed solve my own problem by rotating the lever down a bit. Man I'm good!

Sometimes seeing it in print helps me out. We'll just chock it up to that. Glad all is well now.
