Hi,
well I have been visiting friends in the custom / race bike business before I head back to the UK.
One of them builds exhaust pipes for street racers and the like.he tipped me to a set of formulae which he has converted to a computer page for designing 4-2-1 pipes etc .
He asked me a set of stuff about FZR 600 to which without my books (even may be with them ) I have no answers.
Now we all know this is the font of knowledge for FZRs :-} I need to know the following:-
1} Exhaust Open BBDC.
2} Exhaust close ATDC.
3} Engine R.P.M
4} CC of one "Cylinder
5} Exhaust valve duration in Degrees.
6} Carburetor induction Length in Inches .
7} Exhaust valve correctly timed full lift with degrees after TDC .
8} Overlap in Degrees.
9} Tuned length From the Valve Head to case face................"P"
10} Primary inside Diameter is in Inches .
I hope my notes are correct but if I get this lot we can design NEW pipes that are "race" or "sytreet" tuned for the FZR 's
IF you put info SAY WHICH MODEL IT IS for !!!!!!!!!!
Hopefully we can put this to use for 4's 6' 7.5 & 1Ks.

Sounds promising.
I am assuming you can then take the dimensions out of the program and take that to an exhaust shop?

FS,
Yup you assume right.
Basically you feed in the dimensions I asked for and the computer feeds out the various dimensions needed for the pipes sections and how to "platt" the pipes to get the right power from them on multi's like ours.
Now if someone or several of you give me the answers I can get the design for our bikes for Zilch / nada /free / gratis
The guy owes me his whole livelyhood so he is paying me back my favour and he knows I am gonna do this for the community here just as I once did for him. So we all smile
So speak up or lose out neither he nor I are gonna faf about & repeat this its a one time deal while I am here with him until Saturday when I fly out on my next leg of my journey !!!!!!!!!

I am writing an exam in 4 hours but once I am done I'll look into getting those numbers... but some are unclear like RPM??? is that max RPM? Primary inside dimater? of what? the stock exhaust?

The RPM where the engine makes most power at the moment (probably from a dyno reading or manufacturer's blurbFreestyle72 wrote:I am writing an exam in 4 hours but once I am done I'll look into getting those numbers... but some are unclear like RPM??? is that max RPM?
The exhaust port exit in the engine case.Freestyle72 wrote:Primary inside diameter? of what? the stock exhaust?
Unfortunately he is not here as he is at the track with his rider, I should see him before i leave just to clarify.

Re: Important questions for us all:-
Ok I have spent some time reviewing this stuff and it's way too high level for me without having an engine sitting in front of me.
I can get the max hp at w/e rpm
for the fzr600 it's
56kW @ 10500rpm and a maximum torque output of 58Nm @ 8500rpm
This is a manufacturer claim etc...
Anyways hopefully someone much more knowledgeable can chime in.

Thank you Freestyle for your efforts seems our comrades have no use for properly design replacement exhaust systems for the aging FZR
