Brandon,i can remember reading some where,about your other half prefering your 400 over her 250.due to it being lower(hope i did'nt dream it ).
The reason that i ask,is a friend of mine is after something more sporty(rides a suzi cruiser ATM)but she is the wrong side of 5ft.My old kawi kr1,was a bit too big for her,as is the 3HE and bar a rgv i am a bit stumped as to what to recommend.I mentioned your reply to her the other day,and she asked me to find out if poss.
There a quite a few 400s,so i was wondering-which one?is it this type;
if so what kind is that?

Actually, my (way) better half doesn't have a bike. I think she'd like to try riding at some point down the line just NOT Here in Los Angeles! Anyway, I've never sat on an FZR250 so I can't really compare anything to them. I HAVE sat on a 3TJ 400 (like in the pic you put up) and they ARE lower than the 1WG 400s by about 15mm. Another thing to consider is that any of the 400s will feel lighter than the 3HE 600 (which I know you have) due to their lower center of gravity. The 1WG 400 and 3HE 600 have the same stock seat height yet the 400 is much easier to manage for me due to this fact. I don't recall whether the 250 has an aluminum frame or steel but my guess is that it would really be a toss-up between it and the 400 simply because the 250 is a little lighter (smaller motor, etc).
Notice that the one is this link looks similar to the 3TJ that you posted up. I'm betting this one has an aluminum frame. Not sure about the older ones though.

The 400 tj,and if needed some adjustable dog bones off reelrazor is my last suggestion for her,if that fails-well it looks like she is destined to stay with the cruisers.

hey man it was my lady and @ 4' 11" she doesn't even fit on a 125 honda.the 250 at least the 86 import fzr was almost as tall and long as my 600 fzr and she was on her tippy toes with it lowered all the way but on my 400 (3tj) the same one in the pic you put up,with the back shock lowered to half way she touches fine and although the bike is heavier than the 250 it is both shorter lengthwise and height.there are also gsxr 400's cbr 400's that if you can find will fit your wife fine if you ajust the rear shock to it's lowest point.I also learned on here that the other 400 fzr's are a little taller than the 3tj.I hope this helps you in your endever and it's awsome that your lady wants to ride!!! cheers

If at all possible do NOT lower the bike by putting in longer dogbones. This does some yucky things to the handling. Better that the ladies get used to tip-toe'ing around on the bike than to have it unsafe to ride. Trust me, I tip-toe around on mine all the time. I'm 5'2" with a 26" inseam and I get by fairly well. In fact, I'm planning on raising the rear on my 1WG 400 for the track. As I said earlier, the 1WG 400s, although the same height as the 3HE 600, are much easier to manage due to the low center of gravity. And Hilly's correct in that the 3TJs are a little lower then the 1WGs so... even better there.
