front intake/rear exhaust, cylinder leaned backwards, it sounds like a de saxe crankshaft/cylinder offset, EFI, intake tract looks much steeper/straighter, underseat fuel tank, airbox in the front of the bike, 97x60.8 b/s
Be sure to use the 360 rotate feature to see the whole thing every which way !

Re: GH:- Yamaha new layout ?
I cant say I would enjoy riding a motorcycle where the motor head it pointed at my family jewels...and also has a fuel tank inbetween me and the motor.
if that thing blows out a spark plug it will be a bullet straight threw the gas tank (BOOM) and right up your man parts...
kinda like this but it would hit your hand...and you need to add the fuel tank boom for better imagery

your point is valid IF you sat on a MX bike at any point I never did I was too busy absorbing the whoops & table jumps with my legs not my spine.
If anyone planned on making a street racer special with this layout in another frame then . weel who knows.
Re: GH:- Yamaha new layout ?
If this scenario worries you..I suggest you never disregard that horrible detonation noise for a few seconds prior to the part failure...or ride a nitromethane or alcohol fueled bike with 18:1 compression. And, you can shoot bullets(even tracers) through gasoline tanks without explosion.shredex wrote:I cant say I would enjoy riding a motorcycle where the motor head it pointed at my family jewels...and also has a fuel tank inbetween me and the motor.

Ducatis have engines with cylinders pointing at the rider's nuts(and gasoline tanks)....so do Harleys and the longitudinal inline Triumph triples. All sorts of V-twin, square twin, V-4 and square 4 two strokes did as well..and their cylinder heads are pretty much minimal compared to a 4s.
Your worries should be confined to more realistic things like getting creamed by grannie or grandad in a Town Car doing the Tampa Bay pharmacuetical addled highball tour while riding your bike with no back brakes or safety gear.

my old 60 degree was pointed right at me, never had an issue
the chance of a cager hitting you is so much higher, worry about that instead

Re: GH:- Yamaha new layout ?
Hi,
all this "worrying" is not good for our sport of riding. Hell I'm 63 in a couple of months and F*c*ed if i am going to worry about riding a bike that may grenade (have the scars on my right leg from an RD clutch I put too much power thro) get a sudden flat or some other geriatric driving a cage.
I just check my bike over before & after riding and ride aware.
People ask me how come i have done so many different things in my life , the answer is simple:
LIFE IS TOO DAMNED SHORT TO SIT ON YER BUTT AND WORRY AND REMEMBER THE GOOD LORD HAS A SOFT SPOT FOR FOOLS.
