Re: how to get the front sprocket off....
Put the bike in neutral THIS IS IMPORTANT DONT DO IT IN GEAR See If you can get some channel locks on the sprocket itself and I 4get the sprocket nut size but get a 1/2" drive ratchet and extension and see if you can have a buddy hold the sprocket with the channel locks while you break the nut loose with the ratchet

Bend the retention washer out of the way and use an air impact gun. Works every time.
Yes, that is a Single Sided Swingarm FZR600 that I built.

Re: how to get the front sprocket off....
well it does if you use an impact air system not exactly back yard regular tooling , there are however Impact drivers in 1/2 drive that can hold the socket and you can bang on the driver with a big copper malletcad600 wrote:Bend the retention washer out of the way and use an air impact gun. ok thats great i have one...but you guys are missing the point... It's in Nuetral sooo...it just spins, and i dont want to hold the sprocket with a pry bar b/c i would have to lean the prybar against the block, and i really dont want to chip the block or anything in theretkclow wrote:+1 thats how I got mine off.cad600 wrote:Bend the retention washer out of the way and use an air impact gun. Mine spun right off even in neutral with a 1/2 impact, one quick shot and it was off and inside the socket

Put it in gear-the highest possible.

Yeah, I don't know it was the first time I had ever done it and maybe I just got lucky but I hit the trigger and off it came. are you replacing the sprockets, if so you can try what huckleberry said and just hold the sprocket with some channel locks and then hit it with the impact.tampaFZR600 wrote:with it in neutral and the chain removed????

Re: how to get the front sprocket off....
Just zap it with the impact gun. It will loosen even with it in neutral and the chain off. You could even do it by holding the sprocket with your hand if you want. Just wear gloves.
