Post by Rial »

i have a 93 fzr 600 and im going street fighter. i bought a set of risers and handlebars, got em installed and put the controls on. the new bars are taller than before and now by brake line befre it y's to the front brakes is too short by 2 inches and my throttle cables (there are two of them!?!) are about 2 inches two short. how hard is it to fix this? :ermm:

How big of a rise did you go? I added two inch risers and dirt bike bars and my cables were fine. Your brake lines will have to be replaced.

Measure how much more you need that way you wont have to take it with you.

If you have an old school shop near you that will make cables (getting rarer and rarer these days), then yes, by all means use them.

Otherwise, MotionPro will make you extra length cables.

I believe Flanders will also.

i adjusted a few things and now the throttle cable is barely long enough and the brake line is like 3 inches too short. i know of a couple shops i can go to. hopefuly it will not be too big of a hassle. in other news, i finished my custom one piece seat yesterday. ill do a post for it later.

Rial,
with the two throttle cables make sure that with the engine running you can swing the bars far left & right without the cable binding and sending the revs thro the roof
With the brake line you only need to replace the section from the bar to the splitter junction OR by two longer lengths from wheel to bar (ie dump that PITA of a splitter which is always a pain to bleed air from .) & use a double banjo bolt with bleed valve and replace the ancient rubber with S/steel in a colour to match the bike.

I got my throttle cables to work on the fzr750t that i motarded as a fun bike but had to replace the hose from master to splitter at front of tripples.
I just used one I had lying arround. Not hard to sort.

Mossey,
I have always found that the horizontal splitter that Yamaha insist on using are a PITA to bleed, I either bin them and use just 2 long hoses or turn the splitter by a few degrees to get the air up one end to bleed. Have you had the same experience ?

I make my double jointed wife bleed both sides at once while i sit on bike just squeezing brakes George.Im not sure how you manage to do it otherwise.LOL

My race bike has twin braided lines and no splitter.
