So, I got pulled over this afternoon........

Post by ThisEndUp »

Yeah, well......it happens a couple times each season :no

I'm just getting comfortable with my 600 (been around a year or so since it's been back on the street) riding it now for about three weeks.....new Pirellis' are scrubbed in edge to edge.....I've got the feel for the manic handling.

So, coming home from the office I take this on ramp which was newly paved recently. Pitched the bike over......cutting a great line through the decreasing radius turn.....knee just touches the tarmac.....look further up around the turn and here comes local law enforcement heading the other way. :yikes: .....retract extended leg....act casual......slowly bring bike back up to civilized lean angle.

Well, I looked over at him when he passed by....and he sure as hell was looking over at me when I passed by......pointing to pull over. (Twenty years ago I would've downshifted , buried the throttle and hyperspaced my way into another galaxy.
But no, I'm too old for that nonsense anymore.....)

Pulled off my helmet as he was beginning his lecture.....and he stops talking. Then he starts smiling and asks how old I am (credentials haven't been displayed as of yet) I divulge that embarrassing information ..... no, I'm not a raving mad teenager, but a raving mad middle aged man who thinks he's a raving mad teenager....

He's checking out the bike (with the bumble bee paint scheme  ) and........holy crap! He used to have an '89 600. "First year it came out", he says. "Yup, I had one that same year also", says I.

"You know you better mellow out. The cops in this area are pretty tough on sport bike riders."says he.
"Ah, O.K., not a problem officer. I appreciate your advice, thanks."
After a little bit of us bull sh*tting......off I go without even having to show any credentials.

Thats pretty cool. I have been pulled over just once in 3 years on my bike and so happened I knew the cop because I also work for the same city he does and he let me go when I pulled my helmet off and he saw who it was. Thank god for a city job!

I wish that were the case. I had no problem adding 10 points to my DL in one year...

Yikes!

How did you manage that fiasco?

Normally I pay off my points. The court always loves cash.....but 10 points! That's a thousand dollar pay off. But, then again....$1000 might be cheaper than your insurance rates going up and that dreaded NJ surcharge :yuck:

I've had cops turn around and follow me, but I'm waiting for someone to pull me over. Wait till they see the old man under the helmet.

I get asked all the time why I don't ride a cruiser. I'm just not ready to sit on a recliner with 2 wheels I usually tell them...

haha I've had quite a few nasty looks from the local PD, but haven't gotten pulled over yet. Here in Arlington we have a city within a city called Dalworthington Gardens.(yes, it is it's own entity, has it's own NOTORIOUS law enforcement.). It gets its anme from Dallas, Ft. Worth, and Arlington. go figure. Anyways, yesterday I was just coming out of DWG and I pull up behind DWG cops. I can tell they were just itching to pull me over. but in 100 ft. I was out of their jurisdiction so as soon as I got passed the Arlington city limits sign I ripped her open and gave them what for! :hyprocrite

I bought my 400 last year in April.. I picked it up from the PO's house and drove it around for a lil bit. I still hadn't had it certified yet so no plates, just a temp permit until I brought it in for certification.. It was about 2 hours after I got the bike that I drove through a speed trap (not speeding at all).... It was 2 bike cops and when I got to a red light, one was next to me and the other right behind.. They waved me over to a gas station and gave me the 3rd degree because there was no visible tags nor did I have my permit mounted on my bike (Because the dumb broad at the DMV told me just to keep it in my pocket because there's no real place to put it).. So after handing the cops my license, registration, proof of insurance, copies of the bill of sale, temp. permit and a few other things I had, they finally told me to go home, take some packing tap and stick the permit on the windscreen...

No tickets, couple of comments about the bike, and I was on my merry way :D

Yeah , i'm just waiting for local police to pull me over , i live in this small country town west of DFW ... most of the other bikes i've had in the past have had quite exhaust .... I bought this FZR with a Yoshimura R&D set-up .... in which running around in town is louder then the CBR1000 with stock pipes that i was riding on .... so i made sure i was legal all the way .... i went with PROGRESSIVE insurance ( liability ) they hit me with $117 for the entire year , so i was happy there .... i then took the FZR to the local inspection station and asked grand-pa to take a look at her . He said the bike would surely pass inspection when the time came ... said everything was in order , so i was happy there ... lol .... Later that day , my nephew was on my son's Suzuki SV1000 , A REAL STRONG bike forreals .... so i asked my nephew to get on my bike , he weighs 60 pounds less then i do , i'm an old fat dude at 240 lbs... so we start at a 10 MPH roll , me on the 2007 suzuki SV1000 and him on my FZR600 in first gear ... wow .. i let him take off first ... it took me 3rd gear running 9 grand to finally catch him and pass him ... the FZR600 will get it pretty good with a smaller rider on it .. I found out ...

Well, nice that they didn't give you a ticket, but WHAT THE HELL IS THIS ??? NAZI GERMANY ??? ARGH!!! TAPE your PERMIT to your WINDSCREEN???? What kind of silly communist idea is that ? I carry in my pocket, wallet, or under the passenger seat. Insane. I'm not taping anything to my bike, I even ripped off the stupid reflectors they taped on there at the dealer / state inspection. Most people do the same thing. The only thing I'm happy about is in Maryland we only have to get the bike inspected once, unless you let your tags expire, which is almost impossible to mess up. Of course our tags are larger than all the other states, goofy.
