Post by smoktt2020 »

Does anyone have pics of the 160 / 60 rear tire mod ? i know the rear brake arm needs to be altered and the sprockets need to be in line along with a smaller chain .... on the FZR600 .......... it would be kewl to see the 150 / 60ZR / 18 SIDE by SIDE to the 160 / 60 / 18 .... pics anybody ?

I guess we need some clarification. Are you just wanting to know what needs to be done to put a 160 on a stock 18" rear rim?

Personally, I've seen some crazy stuff done to get that larger tire on. I would highly suggest doing a YZF Swingarm Mod and getting the 160 to fit that way. The YZF swingarm will give you a 17" rim and many more choices in rear tires.

I have a 96' 600 and ive recently bought a 150/70-18 for it... I dont go home for another couple weeks so im not sure if it will fit, i know the width of 150mm is ok but the side wall height of 70% is that too much? does anybody have any previous experince with these tires?

all you need to do is file down you brake are where the tire may rub. ya gotta take off like .125" you tire will not fit the chain. you got like .100 before it hits. ive been runing 160's on the stock fzr rim for 4 years. its not a mod really.

Is there a link to the YZF swingarm mod?

I wouldn't mind ditching that dumb ass 18" rear. Imagine having real rubber on your back wheel....like Pirelli Corsa 3s...... :bunny

do you have to do the yzf swingarm mod to get a 17" rear? I agree with ThisEndUp in that it would be nice to have some real rubber on the back. Looks like right now our only choice is the BT-014...which is so so I guess... :whistle

Thats the only way is changing the 18" rim. Either the YZF, GSXR, 99-02R6, and 04R6 swingarms.

I've never had an issue with 160 wish it fit bigger but this is the limit or else switch out the swingarm .. :shocker

It's been almost a month now since I've gotten the FZR back on the road, 'been in mothballs for at least a year.

I absolutely love the skinny back tire (stock size). This bike drops so fast into turns. My face hurts from smiling so much.

I can't understand why anyone would want to go with a bigger tire.

I think the beauty of this bike is that it turns so fast. It really doesn't have much power.....but it turns in almost like a 250.

Are you all changing it out for aesthetics?

Agreed The 160 does look good on there.

Would someone please help me make a decision on either the swing arm swap and the 160 on a stock rim(18") Its driving me crazy as to what to which one to choose. 160 on stock rim would be really easy.
