93fzr 600 Digital ignitor
Evening all, I need of a bit of help. 93 fzr 600 orange wire to coil has 12v grey wire at coil has 0 when I disconnect the wiring at the Ignitor the grey wire has 12v. Question is....what voltage should both orange and grey wire to coil. And does anyone have a breakdown on how to test voltage at the Ignitor?
Re: 93fzr 600 Digital ignitor
Update meant voltage coming out of the Ignitor
Re: 93fzr 600 Digital ignitor
This is a TCI ignition, basically points with transistors instead of mechanical contacts; there is no voltage 'coming out' of the ignitor. There should be +12v at the switch side of the coils at all times (that the switches are on). The ignitor blocks current flow normally, only allowing current to flow for a very brief period (3-4 milliseconds at a time) to allow the coils to charge. The transistors do this by connecting the coil to ground.
Disconnect the 8-way connector at the TCI. With the key and kill switch ON, you should measure 12v at the connector between the orange (and grey) wires and the black wire. Measure resistance at the pins on the TCI between the orange (and grey) wire pins and the black wire pin; you should read an open circuit for both.
