Well, that just lowered the strength of that setup by about 50%. It is originaly a double shear orientation and is now a single shear orientation which is much weaker. I would not expect the bolts to last long and would check them frequently. A redesigned bar with clearence in the proper areas would be a better solution.
yea ive been riding it like that for last 2000 miles or so has yet to unbolt apart so far , i really hate riding like that, but it gets me where i need togo im running a continental 160-60 18. I had a dunlop on my black wheels never had clearence issues with a 160 dunlop but my friend had this on his fzr till he got hit by a ford 350 ecoline fullsize van . maybe that is why im having issues witht the wheel. but it looked straight to me.

I wouldn't worry about the brake arm. I would keep an eye on the bolt, but it really should be OK. Remember, the rear brake only acounts for 20-30% of the braking force the bike generates. But yes, there is added tourqe to the brake arm. Just be careful with the 160 on a FZR rim.

IMO something is out of wack, brake arm should maybe rub a 160 (i never ran) but have as much room as you with 150 tire, and you are over prob 1/4- 3/8's off the proper spot... by looking at picture If you set your arm in the right place a 150 would rub it, show a pic of both sides Please, and a shot of tire from back showing both sides
Honestly, if you're running a 160 back there you're going to have issues. The stock FZR rear wheel wasn't made for a tire that wide. I'd suggest going down to a 150 when you can and also make sure the swingarm isn't bent. Or anything else back there is straight for that matter.

when i first got my bike i had a 140- on there then i found the archives after i googled FZR600 when i asked about a bigger tire .. most replys i got told me i can go bigger .. then majority of ppl who like to lean it beyond the laws of gravity said use a stock size and the rest said if your just using it for street 160 will work fine , ive used a 160 the last 4 years never had one problem .. then i get this wheel and tire from a friend .. and the fukin thing rubs againt my brake arm .. ughhh.. what im wondering is this . Is a dunlop tires thinner then a continental . even though they are the same size all the way thru?

yea thats all i did and no it doesnt rub against the chain, ive messed with it to realign but no luck thats why im thinkin of puttin my black wheel on the back cuz i had no clearence issue and this way i cant use my wheel hugger either .

Tire manufacturers have their own specs for tires. So yes, Dunlop vs. Continental could be a different width even though the side wall says they are the same size. This is also true for the side wall height (160r6018). You will get a different total circumference for the same size tire depending on the manufacturer. If you swapped back to the Dunlop, you could very well be good. Now what size rim is it? A 3.5x18 or 4.0x18? Reason is that a 160 should not go on a 3.5 wide rim. The tire is being pinched too much and could seperate from the rim itself. A 160 on a 4.0 wide rim works but just bairly. This could also acount for the extra "mushroom" width and therefore the rubbing. To go back to your comment about the size vs. performance, yes a 140 on a FZR is going to perform better than a 160 as that is the way the Yamaha set it up to be. But you need to make the decession based on your riding style and comfort level with the tire. Spyder put a 180 on his with the R6 swingarm and can still drag a knee.
