Does that work with a US wiring harness? Or am I going to need some electrical engineeringto wire it in?

I'm almost positive there is no connector on the US harness. Looking at the US and UK wiring diagrams in the Wiki, it's a matter of tapping into the bLue/Red wire at the key switch and the Black wire at the headlight. Without seeing the part or a good view of the harness, I can't comment on what connector you'll need.
