SAFETY:
-Helmet (snell rating might be required)
-Leather gloves that cover the wrist
-Riding boots
-1 piece suit, or 2 piece suit with 360* zipper
-Back Protector
THE BIKE:
-Replace coolant with water, Red Line Water Wetter, Royal Purple Ice (NOT Engine Ice or Evans coolant), or Silkolene Pro CCA coolant additives are allowed in liquid cooled motorcycles. Glycol based substances are prohibited.
-Check bike for leaks(engine, transmission, forks etc.)
-Lights taped or removed
-Signals taped or removed
-mirrors removed
SAFETY WIRE(check your track rules, it may or may not be required, most likely not)
-Any bolt, or cap that has fluid behind it (ALL brake Banjos, Rad cap, Oil filler cap, Oil drain plug, Oil Filter (attache hose clamp and wire the clamp to the bike) Coolant drain bolt
-Anything that holds wheels on.... Pinch bolts, Axle bolts (front and rear)
-Anything that holds brakes on: Caliper bolts (F and R), brake pins in front and rear calipers, the pivot bolt on your front brake lever (Must be wired or siliconed) If you have Brembo master you need to wire the pivot location as well....
-Last one is simply a tip. There is nothing against the rules to be wired... so if you are in doubt or its an imporant part you dont want coming loose.... Safety wire it.Nothing like racing in 3rd gear cause your shift lever came undone and is dangling beneath you the entire race Things like shift arms, shift levers, front sprocket nuts, etc.......
-You may also want to safety wire your key, so you don't lose/forget it
ON SAFETY WIRING
-Don’t over twist your safety wire! The standard is 8 - 12 twists per inch for .032 diameter
safety wire. Any more than that weakens the wire and could cause it to break under
stress. Note that wire should always be applied so that tension is in the tightening
directions. If you are unsure how to safety wire your motorcycle, try to get help from someone
who has been doing it for a while. Anyone who has worked with mechanical aircraft
preparation is probably an expert at safety wiring.
Check your local track rules too, to be certain as all tracks are not the same
