Yesterday evening I get a call. Its my race buddy Fred. He tells me he is at the local track and the track manager has asked him to call me and go to the track.
I ask him why and he tells me the lighting system is finished and he asked for me to come out and be the test rider. Fred tells me he will be the only other rider on the track with me and we have the track to ourselves for two 20 minute sessions.
But my bike is not ready for the track yet. So BG-Performance Steps in and offers up two R-6 bikes for Fred and myself.
I got no choise. "Honey?.......Don't make plans for me tomorrow evening!"
So fred and I got to bust the tracks cherry for bike on a night ride. The lights were fine with the exception of two corners.
one was anoying that it was nto lit up well.
The other corner, T5, we nic named the Abyys.
It was so efen dark when you entered it yuo have a split second o fnight blind until you reyes adjsut to the lighting from the other corner. But you can not really see the other lighting until you have apexed... which is nearly impossible due to the fact you cna only see NOTHING!
No entry point, no referance points and an apex that is in complete darkness. It was so dark I could not tell how far of the ground I was and everytime my knee hit the ground it scared the shit out of me because I could not see and it would startle me when it hit. Freak show for sure.
We ended up doing about 30 minutes in the first session.
We talked this over with the track manager the nhe said ok wel its 6:50 now you cnahave the track until 7:30 thanks for the help go have fun.
So Fred and I took off for yet another heart pounding session.
When It was over I was exhausted.
I was going slower than fred who was holding on and going spastic. I was paying attention to lights, corner worker booths if they were lit enough etc.. could see the edge of the track in corners I know we all crash in.
But Fred ... No way hit opened the throttle and went spastic the entire time.
I put a camera on the bike and we got footag so you can see for yourselves.
The brightness of the lights on the vid show much brighter and blinding than they are.
It was actually pretty easy to ride out there less the two bad corners.
But man what a rush! I know there are tracks that offer night riding but it is a first here and a first for me. Maybe if I was on a endurance bike with lights of some sort but we had no lights other than what the track istalled.
So mark another thing off that I never thought I would be involved with. Poppigng the light cherry on a track. Fred was 10 minutes late so I was on the track alone for ten minutes at first so I guess I had her first technically ha ha ha ha ha

That would be so awesome! Running under the lights on an open track AND someone else's bike!

Re: Track Nights in Shanghia
I think I found some on my lap top which has been sitting for quite a bit. Let me dig them out. Thought I had video as well. I know I DID but need to find.
Sorry about not following up guys.
