Race one of the series

Tomorrow we begin the 5hr drive to Taupo internation track.
http://www.tauporacetrack.co.nz/circuit-maps.htm
Racing on the full circuit track one.
Been there once only and that was my rookie race so hope to blitz my times.
Weather forcast is not great with showers predicted.
My goal if its wet is to beat my last years times in the dry on a wet surface.
Track reports are there is emulsion patches that are slippery and some corners have a foot of racing line only without hitting patches.

39entries for postclassic of which 35only can qualify.
Hope to qualify on front row or 2nd row at the worst.
This track is suited to the smaller bikes so expect a few juniors to be up arround the front.
Last year a methanol powered xr570 (yes trail bike)won the first race.
It is 120kg wet weight and 80hp so suits the track.

The 1000 is as well prepaired as I can get it and I have new slicks and almost new wets with spare rims.
only thing left is Sweeks headers he sold me at great price.
Should have them on for round two.

I have been practicing wheel changes and down to 11minutes to both wheels so ready for showers and rain.

See how it goes and let you know.

Just got back will add more details later as its been 19hr day.
Qualify 1st on wet track by 2.2sec to 2nd.

RACE ONE
Race declared wet so on go wets and then it clears up before race one.Dry race line but wets on bike. Not aloud slicks as meeting declared wet so the guys who run street legal groved race tyres advantaged slightly.
Good start of line.Lead for 1st half of race then wets start going off so some huge slides and an almost highside.Got passed by two bikes while im trying to get back in saddle as both legs ended up on the same side of bike.
Catch the first bike ahead within half lap and pass it on back straight.Got noticable extra grunt this year and can match the pre82 big bore methanol burners on the main straight.I couldnt get close last year to there straight line speed now im matched for power.
The next bike ahead was gsxr1100 and I hauled him back.I hauled him in under brakes at the end of main straight with tight s bend before finish line.
Got in front but came in so hot that i clipped white line on entry and sent me on slide straight towards emulsion repair on track so slide through that as well.Still on bike and in control again but in forth gear as unable to change while sliding exit final corner in four and see gsxr pulling up beside.
PHOTO FINISH.No one new who won until transponder times came in.
I missed out in first race coming second by 7/100 of a second.YES thats 7% of a second. banghead banghead

RACE TWO
Track dry almost 100% and now alloud slicks.
Got great start and passed undneath by zxr450 kitted junior. He held me off through the in section but never saw him again once i got through him.
Coasted the last half for a 7second win.
Only saw a bike that i laped. Not as fun but points is what its about this year.

Result for race day one is 47points from 50 possible and Ist for the day.
The guy that got second is a one event wild card so have 7point advantage in the series.

I HAVE TRACKED DOWN 41mm mikuni fzr1000 race fladslide downdrafts local and cheep and hope to secure them in near future. They are 10hp bolt on grunt.
Sweeks yoshi headers have arrived so get them on bike soon as possible also and ditch the exup headers and exup system.

The organisers mandate what tires (wet / slicks) you run?? I've been stuck on wets in the dry when the organisers delayed and delayed letting us off pregrid (tv cameras with national-series Super-duper-bike) and the sun came out, but that's it!
