My 2009 plans and Sponsors
I am a planner by trade. have been planning large scale construcion project for years before I came to China.
So planning ahead is a natural thing.
Last year after my crash I really was into too overly motivated to hit th pavement looking for sponsors though I gave it a half hearted effort and got half hearted sponsorship.
The year of racing is over here after the Nov 7th race and I decided to plan early this time.
I hit the pavement talked my ass off and by god I got a free ride for all next season.
I did it like this. I got a new contract with a guy who makes pizza ovens over here. I know him just hardly but I know he likes motorcycles and racing.
I convinced him to set up a pizza booth at the races. Attendees are = to 18000 at one venue and 7,000 at the smaller venue. With the proceeds he can support the race as well as advertise for his new franchise.
It worked; he bit and I wrote it into my contract.
2009 Race events for me:
The Pan Delta race series is a 4 race series at the F-1 track in Zhu Hai (South of China - top speed 172/MPH or 285/Kph give or take) and Locally the Shanghai Festval of Speed's three races.
Juhai, China is F.I.M. rules and will be for points, trophies and cash. Shanghai is just trophy and cash but its mostly exebition I feel than a bonified series. Still its all we have here. If we were to go by points I would be in Second or third place for sure as most of the racers have not been to all the events so I move up by default.
So seven events scheduled.
I am sharing this not to boast but to show how I did it and maybe help you guys with your sponsorship needs.
I found over the years you just realy need to find the right person at the right time mostly and my guy is it here locally for me. He loves sports and sees the benefit of sponsorship as a win-win for ego and advertising as well as maybe making a few bucks.
Man I need an new set of leathers now. So I will have a total of 4 near new usable sets. I would sell them off for cheap but I will donate two of the sets to the Race club I belong to so others can use them and nto have to buy or rent them at the track. Same with all the boots and helmets I have accumilated. I got no more closet space all of a sudden.
New Arai helmet on the way wooo hoo.

Re: My 2009 plans and Sponsors
congratulations! that is awesome. are any of your races being televised over there? If you can get a copy of any of it, i can convert it(i am assuming you use the PAL system over there) and get some clips of you tearing it up online!
I did that.

I know a local TV station filmed.
In Juhai there are TV cameras as well.
I will see what I can get from them.
I also have a buddy with a good video camera but i doubt the quality is great.
I plan to put a on board camera on the bike this time... a new one... that works.

Video is always good.
You are an inspiration to some of us in your age group - we know who we are.
Good luck!
What are your plans in the off season?
Will you be racing the R6 or the Hybrid?

Re: My 2009 plans and Sponsors
Thanks Guys,
Great, I inspire the geriatric ward of motorcycle riding ha ha ha. Well to tell the truth its the racing that keeps me young.
Oya Carbonis a product sponsor for next year and will continue to work with me on the carbon bits.
Haunter send me that JPEG then ... but sponsors are supposed to GIVE me things Not make me pay for them...oh yeah yu gave me a killer deal..... hmmm Ok I guess I can put your sticker some where he he he.
Actually I need to giev back here now that I am not so strappd for cash, and donate to both the FZR sites.
Both being equally responsible for helping this project get this far.
So New York Style Pizza flips the bill and I can pick up satalite sponsors for products. Thats the agreement. NYSP is more than willing to frey costs by letting others donate parts to the cause and cut his overall cost. So its all good.
As far as the winter months... well in Juhai its the south of CHina... weather is nice there in the winter adndeadly hot inteh summer.
So once the bike gets sorted here and the weather gets cold I will ship it to Juhai and practice onteh F-1 track there and stay in shape this winter.
When teh weather brakes here in teh shanghai area I will already be in shape and practiced up for the locals races. Hope to be a leg up on the rest of the field.
FZR ONLY form now on when the bikes done
I will not ship the biket ill the YZF built to the hilt engine is in.
The F-1 track is WAAAAAAAy fast.
I wil spend teh afternoon today writign up a proposal to NYSP and lay out the expenses they will incure and we will then balance it against the marketing plan adn se what sticks. But I just turned the company on to a guy that wants to open two frnachises so I am in good favor right now. I need to hit it while its a primed subject of interest.

Re: My 2009 plans and Sponsors
i'd have to put a big towel down in my leathers to catch all the splooge i'd be shootin' with chicks like that prancing around the track. God, what a life!
we need more chicks like that at the MX track. they just hired a new girl but she's just taking entry money. we definitely get some hotties up there though.
i'm gonna go eat some shrimp fried rice and play pocket pool now.

Its hard to get on the bike and race with a stiffy.
I shagged Cici a few times. what a screamer!
But that was years ago. I don't even know where she is these days.
I got a hot Umbrella girl lined up for this upcoming race. Hope she makes it.

Re: My 2009 plans and Sponsors
Haunter,
OK well when the project 44 bike is done here soon I will get the 3EN frame stripped and start to build a trainer 400.
I got a lot of expats that have joined out motorcycle club and want a winter project so they supply the labor and I will get the parts.
Most of them are big time mechanics for years.
Best part of living in an international city......
I got race bike mechanics from years gone by that are working for companies as supervisors on projects and such here and they are chomping at the bit to help build a race bike for the clubs team.
When the bike is done anyone who worked on it can ride it at the track for free and we will get a VIP booth for these guys as well so they can appreciate their work when one of the racers in the club take her around the track.
