VIDEO :: GATEWAY TRACK DAY 10/12/08
Here is a short video of the last session we had on the track. The camera was on my bike. The guy in front of me at the beginning is a good friend of mine on a 2006 FZ6.

You can watch it in "High Quality" by clicking the link at the bottom right of the video.
Hopefully the photogs that were there will have their images up today sometime.
I'll be working on additional videos soon...
ENJOY!

Re: VIDEO :: GATEWAY TRACK DAY 10/12/08
looks like you're getting some good practice with the new bike. nice smooth shifts and clean, accurate cornering from what i could see.
i went to the MX track Saturday, saw my old buddy Dan I hadn't seen in almost a year, he gave me some pointers and i swear i got almost 50% faster in the corners. Of course i gave too much thottle on a big table-top and my nads matched my purple FZR for 24 hours. I was in so much pain I had to lay the bike down and reduce myself to the fetal position. That takes a lot of force because i'm pretty used to getting smashed down there. I guess i fell 15+ feet straight vertical.
Anyway, if I can keep developing what he taught me, I should be able to clear a few more jumps better than before, eventually. Of course he still lapped me after 3 laps, but he's insanely fast.
Good job & nice video. Thanks for sharing. Now off to buy another huge bottle of Advil.

Nice job, great video. Compared to the Fizzer, hows the Gixxer overall on the track?

I forgot, all suzukis are "broken" from the factory.ragedigital wrote:Ha! That speed isn't accurate. I need a Speedo Healer.

I've got no smart-ass response for the tires. That is some nice looking rubber.

Re: VIDEO :: GATEWAY TRACK DAY 10/12/08
exactly, and the speedo-healer, don't give him guff on that, all the bikes need a speedo healer esp. when changing sprocket ratios. which most of us do.
i know mine on both bikes is off 10-15%. Some of the speedo healers are expensive, i say, not really worth it, just do the math in your head or figure it out on paper for each MPH range. (and who the hell looks at their speedometer anyway????)
Rage, are you wearing Alpinestars, SixSixOne or EVS shorts under your leathers, (or do you go commando)?
...just wondering, as, I got my new EVS last week and they totally kick ass, so am now using them for MX and my old EVS's for under my street leathers.

Don't fret, they make them for Hondas too! ha!tommyj27 wrote:I forgot, all suzukis are "broken" from the factory.
See what happens when you get away from the ultra-reliable front speedometer cable?

Re: VIDEO :: GATEWAY TRACK DAY 10/12/08
I think the GSXR puts you in a better position for corners. It might just be the rearsets that do that or the fact that you feel like you're riding over the front of the bike.TomGun wrote:Nice job, great video. Compared to the Fizzer, hows the Gixxer overall on the track?
I don't think I would have done any worse on the FZR. With the 15/49 I was running on the FZR, I was pulling away from a lot of people too, I just didn't have a camera mounted.
Plus, the FZR just wants to lean. With the handling of the FZR, I felt like I could easily handle the corners. I have to work the GSXR a little more to do that, but it does fairly well too.
I didn't get my shifting down. I was down shifting when leaning and I don't care for that, but I needed to pull out of the corner faster. The sound of the bike compared to the FZR is different, so riding the GSXR more will hopefully give me some better feel for the higher RPMs. One benefit is the shift light on the GSXR. The problem is that it's located under the speedometer. I want to relocate an led light on top of the windshield for better viewing.

I just have some running shorts that I wear. I need some biker pants. They're made of spandex and allow your leathers to come off easier.YAM93 wrote:Rage, are you wearing Alpinestars, SixSixOne or EVS shorts under your leathers, (or do you go commando)?

Re: VIDEO :: GATEWAY TRACK DAY 10/12/08
Exactly.
speaking of RPM's... i found the FZR's rev limiter for the first time yesterday, it's buried half-way into that redlines between 12 and 13k. Almost thought i killed the engine.
