Qualifying tomorrow
Well Wish me luck. I got qualifying tomorrow the a race on Saturday. Temp is about 87 Degrees and there is a 50% chance of rain. I hope it does rain as most of the other riders do not have rain tires just D.O.T. Gives me a bit of an edge - I got rain tires.
Race day is calling for partly cloudy skys so if I can qualify in the rain and get up front then have a clear day for racing that would work out fine.
I am ranked about 4th I figure against the others that I have seen have signed up for the open class (600 and above) I got to race against a 1000CC but I think I know him and he is slow in the corners and this is a track with lots of corners and hardly any straights.
I am hoping all this ass time as an instructor here on this track gives me a bit of an edge as well. I know there is one guy that is faster than me but he will be on a bike he has never riden on a track he has only been on a few times.
Still a bit of the pre race jitters. Last race and qualifying were death defying. They mix everyone from 250cc GP bike right through the open class all together to fill the grid. Its scary as shit. Everyone takes different lines according to their bike size, skil llevel. You never know what the guy in front of you will do.
But I talked to the #1 guy today and we walked the track together sharing info on how we go through corners. He said Eff everyone, pass them, jam them, make them stand thier bikes up, dog eat dog is the rule of the day. Go for the throat like last race.
So I will .... no holds bar.
Hope I come out on the other end. Last race we lost 6 riders who crashed out and a bunch more who rode off and mangaed to get back on out of 26 riders. I managed to pull off a 6th place and started on the grid in 13th.
I HAVE to get closer to the front, so tomorrow I am going for it. Everything I learned in the past few months has come together and I have dropped my time a lot so we will see.
Update ya tomorrow on how I qualified.
P.S. if you race - walk the track - what an eye opener to where the banking really is and how I can get a bit more on the throttle faster than I thought I could and where to hold it and NOT get on too early.

Re: Qualifying tomorrow
Thanks Guys for the encouragement.
I am a bit pissed of right now though. Its 3:00AM, I can’t sleep and I realized that one of the teams who also have a team in the Chinese Super bike Series (CSBK) will have two of their professional riders get in on a late entry.
That means no podium for me.
These guys are pros and race 24 – 7 all over the country so us locals don’t have a prayer and will basically get cherry picked – that’s what we used to call it when a pro comes to a local race and take the prize money.
This team is trying to impress Honda and the riders are on Hondas so I know why they are doing it (a Honda Contract) but it still seems unfair that we as foreigners are not allowed to race in their series coupled with it being a “local” regional race, but they can come step down in to our race and take our cash prize.
But still that’s racing and I just plan to go see if I can best my time and race against the track. I have managed to drop from a 1:24 last season to a timed 1:17 last race and an estimated 1:15 the other day.
So if I can pull off 1:15 or even below I will be happy with myself. That’s a lot of time to drop on a 1.2 miles track with 14 turns in it. I am actually racing better now than when I was 28 years old ha ha
Ok Rant over. I think I will try to boot the pros off the track.
One advantage is they have rules in the CSBK….. we don’t he he he
