Hi again. Need advice on best clutch plates to get me off the line at the race track. My fzr1000 (race bike) currently has EBC Kevlar frictions in, and getting off the start line in races is bloody hopeless. Even if I concentrate and feather the clutch it grabs, slips, grabs, slips, grabs...... off the start like a bloody bronco horse. loosing at least one line which negates all the hard work ive done to get me too that grid position.
I would like a clutch that actually slips please.
I still have original Yamaha cluch plates tucked away (long story why the EBC ones are in)
Thinkin on putting Yamaha plates back in. buying one plate to get rid of the one with the ring inside that gives trouble.
What should I do here?

Gosh....I am late in replying to this......been away fishing.

Right....Fzr 1Ks are hopeless off the line until a simple modification is made.
There are insufficient oilway passages to lube the plates.
Sooner rather than later the clutch explodes wrecking the bottom end as bits go straight into the sump.

You need to ditch the central spring plate...a one off special item and replace with a std. friction plate.
The inner clutch drum requires a mod ...drilling extra oilway holes and champhering channels.

If you want a bullet proof clutch you require an YZF 750 outer drum which is braced and you rivet your 1000 drive gear in place of the 750 gear which is smaller.

Mine was a bastard to buck and kick at high rpm launches until modified.
