Track Day Bike - Tires

Post by ragedigital »

Looking for sticky tires that will work for 4 Track Days a year and give me good results.

Front 120/70/17
Rear 160/60/17 or 170/60/17

Thoughts?

BT002 on the front and BT090 on the rear?

both of those are going to require tire warmers or for you to go easy on them for a couple of laps. You could try dunlop qualifiers, pirelli draon supercorsa pros, the good old bt-014 is still good for track days, or michelin power races are also available in those sizes and have different selections in compounds

the michelins look like the best option to me atm

Well, they have the new BT016s which might be an improvement over the BT014s.

The Avon AVV36 I used this past Track Day did pretty well, but I don't see too many other people using Avon's.

Since the front Pilot Race is still in decent shape, I might just run another Pilot in the rear to match it.

not a bad idea

pilot races cost less sometimes than power street tires!

Walking about the pits at a few track days up at Willow Springs I've seen cases where they use a 17inch front and a 16.5 or 16 inch rear wheel with a 200 tire on it.
